Itachi only seen Tobi's sharingan, not his face. If their eyes meet, that's what will trigger Sasuke's amaterasu.

I was sure it was stated somewhere Itachi had set the Amaterasu to go off as soon as Tobi revealed his Sharingan to Sasuke.

Wait a second.... Why would Amaterasu have to activate when he sees his face?? It was only when he sees Tobi's Sharingan. That means Itachi didn't really know of Tobi's true face.

yeah I completely missed that page about it activating to Tobi's sharigan. One thing we can conclude tho is that Itachi knew Tobi wasen't Madara. And that he wasn't aware he had Izanagi.

He must have also firmly believe Amaterasu would be enough to keep Tobi away from Sasuke

Itachi knows that after his death tobi would try to manipulate sasuke by showing that he was also a uchiha(sharingan )
Tobi always keeps mask, and people can only see his sharingan sometimes at other times you can see nothing.

About Izanagi, that's not possible, unless he had a third eye hidden somewhere. He used it against Konan and had his second eye to spare. He probably just used his S/T to get rid of the flames.

That just goes to show that Amaterasu is ridiculously slow burning, because yes, his shirt was fine after. Or maybe he had a stash of clothing in that dark place he fell into. Or he did something else.

Maybe you forgot about the stash of Sharigans Tobi has? That's impossible Amaterasu doesn't burn slow. He was crying and aching in pain. It's impossible for him to just shake that off like nothing. Clothes fresh and everything.

He did called him madara. Read the page before that one or the whole chapter and itachi was explaining to Naruto how if he were to be arrogant and and try to do everything by himself one day he will become just like madara. That was not Naruto's thought U_U
