I'm pretty sure Itachi saw Tobi's face

I did a little digging and realized Itachi must have seen Tobi's face.


When Sasuke 1st encountered Tobi. Itachi transferred his Ms powers to Sasuke to activate "Amaterasu when he saw him". A few things I thought was out of place.



You see below that Sasuke is already looking right at Tobi.

However Amaterasu didn't activate until Tobi took his mask off.

This is the 1st thing I thought was weird. Next is that Tobi was perfectly fine not even his clothes were burned after being Amaterasu'd.



The only logical explanation is that Tobi must have used Izanagi. Something Itachi must of been unaware of Tobi having.


(Please note Tobi was screaming in pain. He could have not just S/T it off and his clothes were perfectly fine)

If Itachi thought Tobi was really Madara why would he set only amaterasu on Sasuke if he thought he would survive. The strongest Uchiha would most likely have Izanagi. Sorry guys Itachi is not that dum.




Next is when Itachi was brought back to life he refferred to Tobi as well Tobi.

He also never once mentioned him as Madara in his flashbacks.

The only time Itachi called him Madara was during his time with Sasuke. Anyone who reads the manga knows he had more than enough reasons to lie to Sasuke. Itachi himself admitted to lieing to him. So it's obvious most of it was just a ruse.



Now if Itachi never saw Tobi's face how could he have programmed Amaterasu to attack Tobi by only the way he looks.




Not only did Tobi have a different mask back then it only activated when Tobi took his mask off. All the evidence points to Itachi knowing Tobi's true identity or knowing alot more than we thought he did. /Thread

I don't think so, otherwise he would have said who Tobi realy was. Amaterasu I believe was programmed to react to Tobi's sharingan. He just didn't have it activated until he was about to take his mask off.

I was sure it was stated somewhere Itachi had set the Amaterasu to go off as soon as Tobi revealed his Sharingan to Sasuke.

He also called him madara when he was talking to Naruto though and he didn't need to see his face, I thought it was just his sharingan.

As you can see when Tobi had his mask on Sasuke did not have the sharingan activated therefore, it was just his normal vision so he would of been unable to see the sharingan in his mask like everyone else ,
for example: When Kakashi saw Tobi had a sharingan he could only see so because he too had his sharingan , where as no one else noticed

By taking off his mask , the sharingan came into view and therefore,
Sasuke could see it hence activating the Amaterasu

So Itachi may have not seen his face after all xd
