Did you not watch the fight? It was Shikamaru who planned to fight Hidan to use Kakuzu's blood for the ritual, and for the last 20 chapters Shikamaru was learning to plan for the unexpected. Just because he didn't know, doesn't mean he wasn't prepared for the worst.

Since when does Shikamaru need time to think? Did you see the Tayuya fight? Or the Temari fight? The sound Ninja fight? He planned on his feet in all of those, Sasuke would not have lasted.

I think that Shikamaru is way smarter when it comes to battle tactics. There are different kinds of intelligence, people. But, if you guys really want to prove who is smarter, then look at the Naruto handbook and compare their intelligence stats.

In the third Naruto handbook, Sasuke's intelligence is 3.5. Shikamaru's intelligence is a 5. Sooo, Shika wins!!

Lol, all I'm saying is when he was fighting the Raikage, he didn't think of a strategy to take him. Something Shikamaru would do. During his fights with the Kages and Bee, he let his emotions and powers fight for him and not strategy.

Ive seen all of Shikamaru's fights and that's my point Temari gave him time to think of that strategy...Tayuya also gave him time to sit their and think of a strategy...Kakashi fought Kakuzu which allowed him time to think of that plan to take on Hidan...if I'm not mistaking Sasuke fought Temari and he devastated her quickly...look at what Sasuke did to naruto at the waterfall to hit him with the chidori...face it Sasuke is a little smarter thinking on his feet

that was before pain arc. and knowing that sasuke lost some of his intelligence after that time, we can easily say that shikamaru is at least twice as better

:flaw::flaw::flaw:No he did not. The data book came out when Sasuke had learnt the truth about Itachi. Sasuke is a lot more intelligent now than when he fought Killer Bee without making a plan. Now he is making plans on doing something else that we don't know of.

@OP: Shikamaru is obviously the smarter one and is based on pure strategy while Sasuke is a combination of power, skill and strategy. Also at the people saying Sasuke was dumb in attacking the kage summit. Well you do realize he was bent on revenge. If you say Sasuke is dumb for attacking kage summit, then Shikamaru is dumb for trying to fight Kakuzu and Hidan with just his two team mates. Honestly if Kakashi didn't come, Ino-Shika-Cho wouldn't have lasted more than 30 seconds.

Also Sasuke knew that Tobi was behind him and Tobi was the one giving Sasuke orders so saying Sasuke made bad decisions doesn't make sense because Tobi would have killed Sasuke for disobeying him.
