Pein isn't even using the real rinnegan, each path has a single power given to them by the rinnegan. The manga hasn't even came close to showing us the true power. Remember what J-man said about it, and the way he explained it, and the way the manga portrayed the look on his face when he explained it, says a lot about this ability, it is unmatchable, but remember, Madara still knows Nagato's secret.

it all depends on the user, the rinnegan may be the more powerful eye technique, but the experience madara has with the the sharingan since he so old is the only reason i can think of as to why pein would take orders from him. kakashi once said sasuke is no match for neji and the byakugan was stronger but i dont see him beating sasuke or itachi and definently not madara

good point, but the rinnegan is supposed to be able to learn all technic and master all the element... so if pein is affraid of one of madara's thecnic why don't he just learn it?

The answer is because he can't! The sharingan is a genkai, and that pein can't copy!

So the only reason pein is kept in leash is because madara has an eye technic that even the great pein is affraid and can't do!

1. Who said Pain obey to Madara?
Madara is Mastermind in Akatsuki,hes the founder! Is it so hard to understand ? Pain thinks hes most powerful,A God,why would he resist to go capture 9-tails,its fun for him,hes not afraid of anything.
2. Did we saw what real Pain/Nagato can do with Rinnegan? All we saw is 6 dummys with copied eyes-which can only do is-share field of vision.

after pein beat Jman he said that if Jman knew his secret he would have lost. because of that, to me, the most logical assumption is that tobi knows pein's secret. so tobi knows how to beat pein and that's how he keeps him in check.

Lets make a scenario

1) Pain has mind jutsu's similar to the yamanaka clan, and if he like somehow "enters" pains head, making it near impossible to breach his head in the first place, and he is doomed if he stayes in there(it was extremely difficult to enter the subordinates head, And Pain is probably resistant to genjutsu, having an extremely powerful eye technique.

2) 6 bodies, genjutsu like tsukyomi won't work on that, he will just effect one, which if it isn't released, the other guys can just own him.

3) Any jutsu's gets absorbed by fat guy, including amaterasu

4) projectiles get deflected by grav realm

5) Summoning realm ftw, summons huge animals that can be used to hide, to attack, and stuff. He can also use space/time to summon other bodies

6) Missile realm, just fire off a bunch of high powered weapons

7) Chakra, itachi and sasuke run out of chakra before the battle starts

8) lie detecter, itachi pretty much is a lie, instant death

9) A bunch of other stuff

10) Remote control guy, that probably holds pains true power, we haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg.

u took no time to think about that....sasuke no..itachi yes!...

1. j-man caught him in genjutsu..theory dispelled....

2.6 bodies so wat ? that tha only thing keepin him from gettin his ass handed to him FULLY!

3. How in the hell can u absorb amaterasu ? This is not sum reg type chakra...
If that gets on u it burns for like a 100 days or summin or untill the user takes it off....
