For your second one, identical twins are far apart if you think about it. Different tastes in things (fashion, food, etc.) and their personality is different. Do you really think they have the same amount of cells or the same number of hairs on their head? Their far from "identical"

cogito ergo sum, ie we think therefor something does exist ergo nothing doesnt exist

well no matter how brilliant you are you cant imagine how it would be like if there was nothing. since our thoughts exist it is incomprehensible to us. we want to explain questions like this with religion but it doesnt help. I think we need to search for the answer with science.

But science doesnt have an answer to that so noone could answer that question.

And to all the previous posts that have nothing to do with this thread: why bother to post?

its funny how the both extremes: nothingness and infinity are unimaginable for us, math may say and even prove that some types of infinity, ... well the achilles and the turtle

what exists really depends on how we are able to percieve and interprete the world. the laws and theories science produces are often relative because our senses allow us to interpret the world around us in limited ways, but to someone else with different types of senses our formulas would make no sense

example 1: a species who wouldnt have any developed (what we call) mathematich could do nothing with our theories based on math, math is a creation of human mind, much as philosophy

example 2: we see a perfect straight line and describe it as such and have simple ecquasions for it, however if say (im gonna borroe Hawkings analogy here) a fish would be looking at the what we see a straight line through its curved glass bowl and water the line would be distorted and our ecquasions and theories would be useless

I understand where you're coming from. But assume they don't have an unlimited time like in reality. Then the odds of it happening would be on a much smaller scale, something we couldn't even fathom. Now do you think there could be two identical things?

In that case, I think not. Everything is unique no matter how identical two objects may appear. Twins for example, can look the same, but have 1 chromosome that is not similar to the other twin.

Why is there something rather than nothing?
That is depending on someone's opinion. If someone is easily stressed or panicked, every little issue will be something of greater. Those appreciative of the world around them will allow there to be a feeling; a 'something'. That something being their motive in life.

For a hardcore pessimist, who hates life, feels empty or easily ticked off by every living thing, the world becomes nothing to them.

It can be understood under the context of emotion, or literally. (Without a world there would be nothing.)

Can any two things be identical?
We'll never know. There's an opposite to everything, so possibly a twin to everything? I know most things come in pairs, but exactly alike...not sure.

Well, this question can be related to the question:

"If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound?"
The answer to this is how you see it, it can be : 'No' because we didn't hear it make it sound but the mere fact that it fell down and we know that things that make an impact against something, will make a sound so it can be 'yes'

There is something because we make it 'exist' by thinking of it or having it/seeing it/talking about it etc..

But that's just my opinion, others can view it differently.

in nature it is impossible to get a perfect triangle or a perfect line for that matter, if we push it to the extreme: the ''identical'' objects consist of different particles of matter so no they are not identical

however the concept of a perfect triangle is another thing

In nature, there can't be perfect shapes drawn, all equal on all sides (or curves for circles^^). If you magnify on the object, you'll see that it's not the same on each side of each other.

Sure, we have man made concepts of identical things, but nothing in nature makes identical things, there's always a difference even if it's on a molecular level.
