itachi is definately NOT above him. i agree with you. people underrate jiraiya too much. hes not one of the legendary sannin for nothing.

2rochimaru is the strongest sannin
3:itachi did not want to catch naruto as we found out itachi was a good character
4: I would give you the benefit of the doubt if it was a stylistic advantage for jiraiya but its not.
5: jiraiya's not fast enough to dodge amateretsu,
6: would get tsukyomied
7: sealed and yata shield would deflect his attacks
In summary he never one shotted kisame, but he did to konan who is trash
jiraiya is good but not on itachi, nagato, madara, hashi, sasuke, naruto, 3rd raikage,etc

he's in hiruzens, orochimaru's, and muu's level which is still beast

Tell me how he'll get past Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu and Susano'o and them come back to me. A sick, blind Itachi could DESTROY him. Back then, Jiraiya was just being hyped up because of his status. Notice how Itachi and Kisame kept on saying "sannin, sannin". They were afraid of his hype, not him. When Itachi was running away from the toad mouth trap he could have turned around and one shotted him, but he never. So shhh. Itachi > Jiraiya.​

Jiraiya has a fair few sneaky techs that could catch itachi I don't think he would get caught in tsukiyomi everyone knows to not look at itachi's eyes he might not be able to dodge amartersu but there's ways for him to block it. I think Itachi wins high difficulty defs needs to resort to susanoo + mirror and sword

Itachi could not ignite sasuke with that jutsu and Jiraiya is faster than sasuke plus yes now that Jiraiya has seen amaterasu he would be prepared to obsorb that jutsu with a scroll just as Shikamaru was prepared with a water scroll against kakuzu. Shikamaru was just too slow but Jiraiya is faster than Shikamaru as well.

My next point is this... We are having a debate/discussion. Are you not capable of doing so without calling names like a child. At the end of the day these are our OPINIONS (though kishi already made it clear that Jiraiya would kill itachi and nagato). The name calling is ridiculous and uncalled for. Its just a debate/discussion. Lets be mature while doing so.

100% agree with this, Jiraiya has knowledge of Amateratsu, and he's not slow by any means. He's been shown to be quite agile and quick without sage mode, if you think otherwise go check out the Jiraiya vs. Pain fight again.

And like I said before, he's very knowledgeable with sealing, and barrier techniques, and we've seen him absorb amateratsu once before. There's nothing preventing him from doing this again, people that defend Itachi seem to forget what he himself has said. "Every Jutsu has a weakness". This applies to amateratsu, susanoo', and Tsukyomi. I'm also glad to see someone bringing up the point about involving personal name calling in these kinds of discussions. It's not needed, the debates can go on without this kind of behavior.

itachi did all the work plus he already showed that he can 1 hit k.o negato BUT thats not why u sound stupid this is:

jiraiya is a sage and has intel on negato which is evident in how he handled his other STUDENT, Konan. SOOO tell me what the f... does being a sage and having Intel really mean? didn't save naruto kuruma did minato did hinota did...

not to mention jiraiya couldn't handle 3 path without help and his trump card
itachi in a split second took care of 3 summons and the king of hell
in the heat of battle figured out how to stop negatos strongest attack and all while basically babysitting to of the dumber characters
