Prove me that Kabuto mentioned Hiruzen in any of his Hashirama hype comments. He stated Hashirama is a legend like SO6P. Doesn't mean that Hiruzen isn't.

Personally I think he was pretty powerful. He has a 5 in everything except speed, stamina, and strength. Since his old age is supposed to degrade him harshly, I wouldn't be surprised if his stamina rose a lot as well. I also wouldn't be surprised if he knew all 5 elements either. The guy has a 5 in taijutsu and has a diamond hard staff that can grow out limbs and attack you at the same time. He dominates most people in CQC. He has the variety to handle plenty of scenarios (even inhabiting a sense of smell?) and the intelligence to use his chess pieces correctly.

Madara makes Hashirama seem like a god, because he believes someone who is not amazingly powerful shouldn't be able to beat him. By making Hashirama seem unbeatable, he is justifying his loss.

All people have seen and know tailed beasts for are as doomsday weapons of indescribable power, if people hear that they can actually be controlled, people will think that that shouldn't be possible so he will be seen as a legend. Does that mean he is the greatest shinobi ever? No, he can control something that is seen to be uncontrollable and is just a bad match up for a tailed beast.

That is exactly what I am saying, if Madara is going to be beaten he will have to exaggerate the power of the opponent in order to maintain his pride. That is why what he said cannot be taken as gospel truth. Before, he became Edo there was no way Madara was this powerful and was probaly a bit stronger than Sasuke is now. His respect and admiration for the only man that beat him will always be maintained so he doesn't lose his pride. Because he is incredibly prideful, Madara has to overcook it to prove the point.

No he isn't making up the truth, Hashirama would have had to be very powerful and would have been better than Madara, I'm not denying that, but with his prideful nature and arrogance, he would think that nothing less than a god would be needed and Hashirama, being the only man that beat him would have to be praised as a god.

Now he is incredibly powerful obviously, but not comparable to the sage, and it isn't out of the question that Hiruzen is stronger. I can't say for sure, but the manga has plainly stated it, and until the manga plainly states otherwise and it isn't just hype, that is what we will have to take.
