Does anyone here ever feel guilty and/or disgusted with themselves for liking an anime? I ask this because all the people I know who (openly) like anime are kind of weird sometimes. Which is why I don't tell people. Honestly, one of the other girls I know who likes Naruto talks to ghosts and comes to school dressed as an elf regularly. It isn't something I ever wanted to get into.

well she must've been having a serious problem with her....
but lol if that starts to happen to every anime viewer...we're doomed..
so dont worry...nothings gonna happen to you...just be yourself...

also...be proud of being an Anime Viewer...people who DON'T watch is are just Scums...and who degrade them are more than Scums...xd [long live kakashi] xd

so i openly admit that i watch them...if they got a problem with it...well its their problem not mine..;)

so chill out girl...:ice:

I don't feel ashamed for it. It's just a hobby like any other one. I just have the luck that my friends don't mind it - they either study Japanese as well, like to watch it or are just entering that world (it took me five years but I finally succeeded LOL)

you only watch Naruto?
well I keep it secret cos I would have lots of problems if someone find out :D
The others are boring. I've tried to get myself into them too (Because I figured, what the hell? Why not?) and it hasn't worked. I've fallen asleep twice while watching the first episode of Legend of Korra and that Black Butler one. Then I forced myself to read the first chapter of Fairy Tail and One Piece- feel no inclination to revisit either.

What sorts of problems?

I only like one. Is there a difference when it's anime in general as opposed to one?
Yes, as anime is different for each series, I could, as someone who has watched more than one anime, say that there is some anime that I'm ashamed of liking and some that I'm not ahsamed of having watched.
Thus I can say: 'Yes, some anime I'm ashamed of having watched, but others I like' as I haven't only watched one, where I could only say yes or no, as it is with you, I presume.

Personally I am not ashamed, sure I could find it a waste of time to have watched even a single episode of some series(I usually quit after one), because they don't fit my taste, but I wouldn't ever say I'm disgusted with myself for watching anime.

True I don't speak to ghosts and openly announce that I'm an anime nerd, but I'd be damn sure to tell them I am if they asked, and I'd definitely scare girls whom are attracted to me(if that was ever to happen) away by saying I'm a super nerd beyond help, if they aren't scared of that, I suppose I'll consider a possible friendship.

All because I've grown up with and because anime teaches me far more than much of the stupid things MTV or any other channels shows(there are exceptions for certain shows and films of course).
The animes I watch tell of friendship, care for others and most of all, soul.

Now, if I were to be disgusted with myself for watching such series, then what am I supposed to feel watching Jersey Shore(nothing against the persons involved, just the pointlessness of the show)?

So you've also felt ashamed before. Just not about the same series. Out of curiosity, how do you differentiate the ones you're embarrassed to watch from the ones you aren't?

And of course I don't like the Jersey Shore. The Daily Show ftw ^^

Ashamed? No! Not at all.
I have a few friends that like Anime and we openly talk about it.
Where are you from?
Do you have a friend that likes Anime too? If so you shouldnt be ashamed.

Edit: tbh I was ashamed before when I started watching anime.

Nononon! I haven't felt ashamed, I only used the examples in order to explain, sorry if it got confusing.

Easy, I go on feeling mostly, but it's hard to explain as there are millions of things deciding that, but as an example stands 'Zero no Tukaima':
It was a good series the first two seasons, but when I was watching the third the quality kind of dropped as it focused more on the perverse feelings between the characters and they were almost basically only fooling around, which is exactly what was happening in the fourth and last season, which I didn't even finish, since it was too bad in my opinion.

To sum it up, I really don't get embarrassed as I stop watching something that I would feel would be a waste of time to watch, before it gets worse.
And I can't say it really goes as far as embarrassment, only annoyance.

@teravita: Could you tell from my sig?
