Tobi was nearly killed by konan. His s/t has it's weaknesses. And only an idiot would think that itachi wouldn't exploit them. Sure he avoided amateratsu once, but what about the second or third time. It's like kabuto said, " Itachi is on another level than the other uchiha's. He was the greatest prodigy konoha ever produced.

I'm pretty sure Itachi was scared as hell to try and attack Tobi to take him out. He had the chance to many times but he never dared to. But I see some people say Itachi would stomp him. Hell, I don't even know how Itachi stands a chance against Tobi's S/T ninjutsu.

Well i know one thing for sure Itachi is very smart ninja IQ maybe more than shikamaru. So if he never attackes TOBI in whole MANGA. thats means he think every possible way to to do that. and in every one of them he fails.. So i think i agree with u there .

The reason Tobi was 'afraid' of Itachi was intelligence. Same with Danzo.

"itachi had many chances" what are you talking about? The only time I ever saw tobi/mask man physically close to itachi was when itachi wanted help from him to complete his mission. After this tobi/mask man was never shown to be physically close to itachi and if tobi/mask man would have been physically close to itachi then itachi would have reacted. Tobi/mask man was afraid to get near itachi. It was only after itachi's death that tobi/mask man started to really get involve and gain control

if they were ever shown together it was thanks to pain's (nagato) communication jutsu

But he has so many jutsu at his disposal. Every jutsu has it's weakness. The s/t tech can only be sustained for five mins. Tobi has to materialize to attack. And it takes longer to suck other people in. Now are you saying that out of all those weaknesses itachi can't capitalize on one of them. A bonafide genius who never used more than 50 percent of his power.

unlike konan, itachi knows almost every single secret sharingan technique and their weakness. Itachi is genius and i m sure he could come up with something which is why tobi/mask man waited such a long time to actually work on his plan. If tobi/mask man wanted, he could have caught naruto long time ago.

stop underestimating itachi... itachi is a genius... a prodigy... he has so many jutsu in his arsenal, tsukuyomi,amaterasu,susanoo,izanami,and just plain brilliance... im quite certain itachi will find a way to win.

From reading a few pages I have noticed quite a few things that many are forgetting or maybe just ignoring.

1.Itachi's tsukuyomi can only be broken by Uchiha members. He said that early in the manga. So unless Tobi is an Uchiha he cannot escape Itachi's Tsukuyomi but even if he is not, Tobi probably knows a way to escape it but that is not based on the manga.

2.Itachi has yata mirror and sword of totsuke. The sword is something Nagato could not escape against when hit so neither would Tobi(If he can get hit). Zetsu also stated how because of those two sacred treasures Itachi's susanoo is invincible.

3.Whatever secret Tobi was able to keep from Itachi would be the deal breaker of winning and losing. I suspect the secret is his space-time abilities because how else could he have escaped the amaterasu?

Also, just because a character is stronger does not mean they would win a fight as seen with Shikamaru vs Hidan. Tobi gets really cocky and because of this he lets his gaurd down a lot. Which is why Minato and Konan were able to harm him in battle or he is just a horrible fighter.

Itachi is knew he could beat tobi and tobi knew he could beat itachi. Itachi is not the type of person that likes fighting. If he had attack tobi even if he was better tobi could escape. And then itachi would be a dead man wanted as a rouge ninja and tobi will be after him. But while itachi was alive tobi could not lay a finger on sasuke or the hidden leaf or he will have to deal with itachi. To me itachi is better but cant beat tobi. I believe this war would not even be going on if it wasn't for itachi death
