Hmmh I guess some people will die soon:

If Naruto is going to get the hokage, there are two ways: 1. Tsunade dies;2. Tsunade gives him the title... According to the situation right now the first possibility seems more reassonable....

Also its not unbelievible that either gai, or kakashi dies, or both, since they are the "equal rivals". And both were shortly before using their final technique, before naruto went Bijumode, remember. They are willing to die if they can protect naruto this way.

I see what ur saying OP, and honestly I agree. Killing off main characters doesn't end the story unless you want it to. It keeps you on ur toes if you know that anyone can die, and draws you into it even more. It is a war for crying out loud, at least kill off some of the Konoha 11 if you're not even going to use them Kishi.

@Gazmatic: Walking Dead comes to mind, and it's my favorite show at the moment.

Of course Jiraiyas death was for the plot.......

Be patient I think K11 will run into Sasuke and then you will have plenty of deaths.

Sasuke promised not to kill a konoha shinobi until he faces Naruto, and as we all saw when he was killing those Zetsu, he plans on keeping that promise.

=================================

Out of 80,000 shinobi, people are complaining that the 20 or so that we know arent dead -_-

Yes they arent experienced in war, but look at what they're fighting, a bunch of tree people that suck at combat and were only meant to absorb chakra and cause disorder. NONE of the main characters are weak anough to die to a Zetsu, hell even Sakura got a moment to pwn one.

Now the Edo's are another story. From what I've seen, not many of the main characters were fighting Edo's.

Kakashi, Gai, Lee, and Sai surviving the 7 swordsmen makes perfect sense because they were pretty much the main group in taking them down. Kakashi is the general, Gai was his right hand man, Lee is always around Gai, and Sai was sealing, they were the most important and in a battle, those are the people you make sure stay alive.

Ino-Shika-Chou wrecking Asuma makes perfect sense and is good for the story.

Darui, Kotetsu, and Izuma beating Kakuzu was a bit iffy to me, but it made sense that they won since Choji was now 100x stronger with the butterfly thing, and Kakuzu was only using one heart since he released the other 4 to fight. Chouji pinning him down is completely logical. (IDK what happened to the 4 monster things)

The fact that any of them survived the Gedo Mazou assault is nothing short of a miracle, they got lucky, good for them, they're alive, get over it.

Mifune beating Hanzo makes sense cuz Hanzo was a rusty mess after hiding for several years. Its a shitty way for him to go down, but when you stop doing something, eventually your skill in the area begin to dwindle, sucks that it happened to Hanzo, but w/e

Kage Fight: Tsuchikage and Gaara surviving is obviously predicable. (New Gen > Old Gen) Plus its a kage level fight, they dont just topple over and die. The fodder that died are dead simply cuz they got in the way or didnt listen (When they were told not to attack the raikage, and did, they got ****ed up)

MADARA!!!!!!: The reason only fodder died is simple, look at the survivors of his assault, GAARA, TSUCHIKAGE, NARUTO, RUBBER DUDE. 2 KAGES, 1 JINCHURIKI, and a guy that can vomit out rubber shields. The only others that didnt die were the ones that were close enough to them to be shielded.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Edo-Tensei was a joke, a stupid joke. When you kill off a main character their deaths have to serve some purpose. Asumas death made InoShikaChou stronger. Jiraiyas death made Naruto stronger and have a different view on things. The Thirds death saved the entire village. You cant throw them away by having them be killed by tree people or zombies made of paper-mache. Thats also why the kages(maybe not oonoki) arent gonna die, if they die, they'll just be thrown away because they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to stop Madara. I doubt we'll lose many main characters in this war, but as Kishi said, Naruto is nearing its Climax, so things have yet to even get good. If we're gonna lose anyone, its gonna be a heroic death against a powerful foe, not some zombie or human venus flytrap. Cuz I know for a fact that id ANYONE died to a dam zetsu or edo that was only gonna be released anyways, there'd be HUNDREDS of threads filled with people bitching about how that character wasnt served justice.

Firstly, just being inexperienced at war doesn't mean you will die right away.

Secondly, all the main characters have gotten really strong, and the weakest of them, the medic nins, are still strong and they get protection because of their medical ninjutsu.

Third, Madara is fighting five of the strongest ninja alive, and he was playing with them. When he has tried to kill one of them, they barely saved themselves.

Fourth, Jiraiya was killed for the plot, and I guess Tsunade will also be killed for plot close to the end so that Naruto will be able become Hokage.

Edit:
Should have read every post first.

The guy above me says everything the best.

I never read so much nonsense just get out.

Dying to Zetsu maybe not, but in balanced fights like Sai's division vs Deidara's, or the 7 swords vs Kakashi's team, it makes no sense that one side is 100% victorious.

Deaths are necessary to create tension and drama in the series. It gives you a true reason to be rooting for the good guys. If you already know who's going to win, what's the point of the battle?

This is not a war between the Shinobi and Tobi, this an extermination.

It's really the biggest flaw of the series, Kishi is too soft.

This isnt DBZ where you can throw away any char knowing that he'll come back. Death may create tension and all, but this is still a story, if your gonna get rid of a character, you cant just throw them away. Edo Tensei was a stupid, stupid addition, and of course Kakashi survived, he's the general, he will always be protected when on the field, and so will Sai, gai, and Lee since they were directly helping him.

Edo-Tensei was added for the hell of it, Kishi said the story is nearing its climax so if anyone is gonna die a worthy death and not be thrown away it will be when the jubi is brought back and madara has killed Oonoki

In DBZ at least they actually died to begin with. A combat could go either way. In Naruto you already know who the obvious winner is.

Killing off one of the Kages, one of the Konoha 11 or any others would not end the series, unless it's Naruto or Sasuke themselves.

So if one of the Kages or one of K11 died but were resurrected, that would be good enough for you? Just like what happened in DBZ?

No in DBZ you could not "throw away any char".

DBZ has three sagas. The manga was supposed to end with Goku, Vegeta and Krillin's death at the end of the first saga. Then second saga, with Gohan taking on as the next generation. But the demand for more chapters was so high that Akira continued the series, which is why the characters got resurrected.
Goku lost a ton of fights throughout the series, even against main villains (Cell). It wasn't a manga as naïve as Naruto even if it's less sophisticated and much simpler. Akira wasn't as nice with his characters as Kishimoto.

Honestly if me and many others find the series to be getting way too soft, it's not because we simply think they are. It's because they are compared to other series and movies.

I dont mean throw away as in gone forever, but if death is suppose to affect the readers, you cant constantly bring them back. I know Toriyama never meant for it to be that way, but because of the high demand, thats what it is now. A manga where the main doesnt always win is the best kind, you dont glorify them simply for being the main, but you make them just as vulnerable as everyone else. Its shows balance in the strength of the characters, something Kishimoto knows nothing about(Naruto has become speed and explosions, Madara is a demigod, The uchiha control space and time, and can summon ethereal hell warriors just for the lolz)

Kishimoto is soft, hell he turned a story about children and adults killing in cold blood just for their villages into a fairy tale of legendary monsters and unity and understanding. Im just saying if you're gonna kill someone it has to be for plot or character development rather than simply killing them cuz its a war. Oonoki for one HAS to die, all that motivation and drive that he has would make him the perfect martyr. Not to mention even though he couldve survived the Madara fight, he insist on keeping things going. But I dont see Kishi killing any characters really, so the least he can do is what he did in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc.

Simply leave the important ones at the brink of death while developing their character, rather than praising and glorify a single clan by turning them into demigods that can alter reality at will and drop meteors. Not to mention he needs to stop the SenjuxUchiha obsession and focus on the other characters and their clans, Im tired of having months worth of how strong the uchiha are while the rest of the world is just a shitbag of normalness
