couldn't have itachi used Izanami on Tobi? I mean if you think about it he was never who he said he was(madara which he wasn't) and he never admitted it until naruto mentioned madara when they met again. So you wouldn't you say Tobi was never being his true-self and it could have worked on him?

I think it kinda works on the same principle as rinnegan for madara...
they knew they posessed the power but until they were brought back they couldnt use it.

Simple.

Izanami doesn't KILL people. Itachi said himself, this is pointless to use in a real battle. He implanted Amaretsu inside Sasuke in order to KILL Tobi. So in his mind he chose the best option to try and attack Tobi.

Old thread but has anyone thought that what if tobi is lieing about an uchiha do you it could be used on him. Yes i know its just a lie but if he says he's part of a clan that he wants to be in or admires he is not being himself
