What did the younger son become the Sage's Successor of?

I mean, It had to be something serious, since, the Elder son was bitter and envious enough to attack his baby brother...

Tell me your opinions on what the Younger son was the Successor of.

I think that at the time of the sage the world was united and the younger son inherited rule over the land. However after the sage's death the elder son started fighting and the land was broken up into smaller countries. This would also lend itself to Naruto inheriting the body and will of the sage and being able to reunite the countries into one land. Just my theory.

Yes, indeed i do. Think of madara. What power does hokage ACTUALLY give you when you are both equally powerful? None. he was just jelly of the fancy status, hat, robe and rep.

IMO Madara's situation is different, becoming Hokage gives you access to alot like the village and all its secrets, being the big man that makes all the decisions is an important spot.
