As you can see, both quotes speak about Nagato, and they both speak about the same thing. Nagato was that incarnate that was supposed to either calm the world or destroy it, but he turned out to be the one who destroys it.

Now, I'm not saying that every Senju/Uzumaki has the ability to awaken the Rinnegan – all I'm saying is that the Senju/Uzumaki have the chance to possess the Rinnegan due to them being the descendants of the Younger Son and the successors of the Sage. They were chosen by the Sage to be his successors, so it should be logical for the 'incarnate' to be a descendant of the Younger Son(Senju/Uzumaki/Nagato).

Am I mistaken in believing that Madara (edo) stated something around the lines of Hashirama being stronger than the 5 recent Kages, who themselves are barely holding their own against Edo Madara and by barely I mean just barely keeping their asses alive for most of this battle (Tsunade would have been dead if it wasn't for Dan). But as far as Kishi has put in the manga Hashirama was the strongest shinobi in the world during his time. We know he could perform medical techniques in the middle of battle without handseals, while fighting at the same time. Managed to take on both Kurama and EMS Madara, deflected a Bijuu Blast, stopped Kurama from moving AND broke Madara's contract with Kurama at the same time.

So even though we don't know too much about Hashirama at this point I can effectively say that he is easily in the top 3 of the strongest shinobi in all of Naruto

it doesn't neccesarily mean that hashirama is better than him it just saying that hashirama chances of beating madara are greater than any other shinobi.

honestly i think they are equal, hashirama would possibly say the same thing to madara since they show a great deal of respect to each other.

it is true that madara fought the 1st hokage and was presumed defeated but he only wanted his power and soon before madara died he got the rinnegan so i don't think hashirama is really stronger than madara but equal since both have very powerful kg .
