Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Official Thread - Discussion, Analysis, Predictions & All News!

Can someone please tell me that this is just a nightmarre? No, please.
Germany, the team that hasn't lost a match in soo long; the main favorite; the team with SO many stars and a great GK; the one that made everyone believe in them; the one that put down every single team in a beastly way JUST LOST?

No, no, this isn't reality. Germany deserved it IMHO.

Nothing else to say.

Oh yeah, I've got something.

:|

:|
Nope.

Germany thrashed thru everyone, but they choked at the end. I believe Italy was the better team and they deserved this.

Congrats to Italy/Spain for their nations qualifying for the Euro final. They worked hard for this and deserve it.

I would really like to thank both these nations for the tremendous football they've given us thus far.

In recent years many thought Spain would crash and burn, there tactic was just simply a pass the ball around as people fail to grasp the concept of tika-taka football, but today this style is regraded as the best ever and has inspired many people in all kinds of way, its a definition of football today. Spain aren't the same side from Euro 08/WC 2010, but they still got what it takes to match the best.

There have been many arguments/fights/disagreements between the Madrid/Barca players, but for now all his been put to rest.

We have no striker leading our line up yet we have made it to the final against those odds. We've stayed true to our style/tactic which is why we have succeeded this far.

Italian have gained my respect, I mean honestly. The creator of the "real defence" Catenaccio. They have shown me one thing in this Euro run...They have the balls/courage/spirit to go head on with anyone (mind my language). They played an offensive Spain side and held them, a defensive side like England and came up top with a great performance. They stuck to their same tactic against Germany and came up top there also. They didn't care if they were the under dog, or that Spain/Germany are two of the best nation in football right now they go all out and stay true to their game.

Italy has gone head on with all these nation no fear, or no backing down. They had a balance of everything great defence/mid/offence.

Whoever wins this Euro will be weather of it nevertheless. I'm rooting for Espana, but if Italia wins I won't have any complaints.

What just happened, lol. Good game by Italy. Kind of get a Chelsea vibe over Italy, but I'm certain Spain will get this.
I hope not. They didn't change there style VS Spain in group stage, nor against this offensive young German side. The final usually does panic people, but i hope Italy plays the same way they have and will see a fantastic finale.

Tika-Taka VS Catenaccio...Casillas VS Buffon...Xavi/Inesita VS Pirlo/De Rossi...Espana VS Italia.

Wow now the final will be like the extension of the draw group c game between spain and italy...

Lets hope spain pulls it off.... and they play Fabregas upfront and not as a subsititute.

(I want torres to play T_T)

Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Official Thread - Discussion, Analysis, Predictions & All News!

When asked about the two South American stars, Ronaldinho told Globoesporte: "I see Neymar as having everything, he is already one of the best in the world for me.

"I am encouraging him a lot to next be the best in the world. But of course on the other hand I have my friend Messi, who is destroying everyone.

Ahh Dinho, he even knows Messi is destroying everything/everyone.

This is interesting regrading Pirlo.

In all, Pirlo hasn't lost a Serie A match since Dec. 18, 2010, having also gone the second half of the 2010-11 season undefeated with Milan. With him in charge, Italy is also undefeated in competitive matches over the past two years - having compiled 11 wins and four draws since its first-round exit from the 2010 World Cup.

No. As ReLax said, Ital fully deserved to win. I was having weird feeling ever since Portugal lost on a PK which was making almost no sense.

And when people started saying that Spain will lose if they keep playing like that, I became heavily skeptical. I knew that Spain they'll just need a certain amount of luck to keep it going.

While on the other hand, I was also feeling weird of this Semis. Germany are always good and even favorites tag this time. But they have a long history of feeling one-two short and this didn't changed. It was either a trashing to Italy before bowing down to Spain by poor play in final. Or mis-play in Semi itself and that what happened.

Can someone please tell me that this is just a nightmarre? No, please.

Germany deserve it every year anyway but as every other year, they play 1 match - only 1- in disappointing fashion and that's it.

ReLax said most of what I wanted to say anyway. Shall be a great final.

I'm getting two vibes - Italy pulling a Greece-like upset or Spain is indeed destined to win it...Should be a great final.

Smelling Euro 2004 anyone? Underdog pulling an upset in group stage and pushing their luck again in final?

Go and grab me an non-Brazilian who claims that Neymar is on par with Messi and the other Bests.

And nice stat.

Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Official Thread - Discussion, Analysis, Predictions & All News!

now balotelli prove it to the world who is the real super Mario xd
they made it this far, well actually i don't mind seeing Italy lose in the semi final, but they actually pull this one, but now i have to be realistic just like escorp said luck revolve all around the Spaniard team so its likely for them to win this one,

but still anything can happen in this match, i would be glad if Italy win this but its also okay if they lose after all they manage to show us what is the real defensive football looks like after people criticize the negative football style and called it disgrace for the sport itself...........

FORZA GLI AZZURI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Official Thread - Discussion, Analysis, Predictions & All News!

Things I'm keen to watch in the final:

1. The duels between Casillas VS Buffon & Xavi/Inesita VS Pirlo/De Rossi

2. Whether Del Bosque will play Fabregas again as false No.9 whereas that was the reason they draw with Italy in Group Stages.

3. Whether Italy lock better Catennacio than in the Group stages; which seemed pretty good but needed certain polishing.

4. Can Spain be again challenged in possession just like they were against Portugal? Make no mistake - Spain won't score more than 1 goal if they don't have their 65+ possession at least! If we go by their Group Stages encounter, Spain had better possession when Torres entered instead of Fab...

5. Will this be a remake of Euro 2004 or simply a destined treble for Spain?

Gosh. Italy made it. But there's no exception that Germany had done very well this Euro. I actually wanted Italy to win, but after watching the match, I kinda regret for supporting Italy. :| lol. The Germany got alot of chances though, see the on-target shot. But meh, they lost their luck that match.

I dont know what you guys think, but Balo's second goal is kinda lucky? Reminded me of Torres's goal on Barca.

Anyway, what done is done. Good Job for Germany to have reached this stage. And congratz to Spain and Italy for reaching the finale. =]

For the finale, i got a feeling that Italy can win the tittle. But what's the point for predicting? Most people predicted that Germany and Spain should be in the final. But then?

If Italy does what Portugual did to spain they can win this. Stop them from holding all the possesion, disrupt their flow.

Why is everyone saying remake of Euro 2004? Italy is no Greece, lol. I'm guessing you're referring to the WC 2006 when Italy won after having some major betting scandals in their home country...

This match will be legendary.I am anxiously waiting to see who will be the better goalie, Buffon or Casillas. I think Spain has an average team with an exceptional goalie and exceptional mid fielders, but Italia has a great defense and as we saw yesterday, a great offense.

I think Italia will take this game but this opinion is probably biased.

It's a bit like Greece. Sure, they are a huge team history-wise unlike Greece but they started it as big underdogs.

They lost their prestige during Euro 2008 and WC 2010 campaigns. They started the tournament with match fixing scandals & 2 bad-boys strikers. Then, they started their first match against heavy favorites – Spain in group stages; just like Greece started their first match against home-favorite Portugal.
Italy surprised everyone with their pleasant game against Spain and pulled off a nice draw. An upset pretty reminiscent of Greece’s performance. Suddenly, the glorious Italia seemed back in shape. Then, they kept defying odds and now, they circled back their way.

Their last opponent blocking their path to the trophy is the same as their first one at the start. Just like Greece. And just like Portugal-Greece, Spain are again big favorite with the treble opportunity momentum despite the draw at the start. The question is, can Italy surprise Spain once more just like Greece double-shocked Portugal?

Sure, match fixing scandals is closer to WC 2006 but back then, it was 2 teams – France and Italy – who were both underdogs at the start. In 2006, Germany was the favorite. Also, France/Italy weren’t in the same group.

This year, it was always Spain the favorite before it started and make no mistake, Spain will ride high on momentum. Almost as much as being the Host country. Italy were favorites to flop in the Group Stages itself and now, here they are – one step away from Euro glory…

What Escorps said, but the main reason they compare this to Euro 04, is because Greece/Portugal faced off in the first match and met in the finals again. Spain/Italy also met in the first game, and now are meeting in finals. I don't think they are comparing them team wise, just how the one Euro turned up and this one.

As I said Italy will bring the game, thats their main reason for success, they never showed fear to any of these top teams and went head on, getting the best of them went thru a possession team like Spain holding them, went thru defensive side England, and a young offensive German side. They will go in this with more momentum I think. Spain still don't have a proper striker, I didn't even know Negredo was playing Portugal game, it was like a 10 V 11 tbh. Their midfield will only get them so far especially against this Italian side who went against almost every tactic in the game and came up victorious, except for being held by Spain possession.

As I said, one of my major interest in this match is how Del Bosque will deal striker's issue.

Out of Fabregas and the 3 strikers - Torres, Negredo and Llorente - Fab was the most prolific. Yet, he was the major reason why Italy's defense became harder to pass through in the Group Stage match. It's weird that there's such a big lineup interrogation when we've reach the Final but it's like that...5 matches and yet, Villa's absence has no definite solution. But will whatever decision taken backfire?

Gomez was Germany's main striker and best scorer. Yet, Low was criticized why he chose Gomez instead of Klose after yesterday's defeat? All that to say that, it's hard decision for Del Bosque to make and he'll be under lots of pressure before taking and will still be during the whole match.

Still, Spain got more momentum than Italy IMO. Barcelona never lost in a final - always in Semis and you know the trend. Similarly, seeing Spain having the short stick at the doorstep of a historic treble (Euro-WC-Euro) seems unforeseeable. I think that chance itself is the momentum decider.

I don't think both teams will play at their best level though. One will either fail to up their game or one of them will underplay. Just got that feeling. U_U I also don't think either side will score more than 2 goals. It's either 0-0, 1-1, 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 or 2-2. Though the 1-0 or 2-1 can go either way. It's a pretty suspenseful final despite Spain's huge momentum.
