Is Tobi's warping technique really that great?

Madara isn't stupid to be sucked in by Tobi's jutsu. Tobi might have already shown his 100% during the fight with Naruto and Killer Bee.

He was not trying to warp Naruto or atleast we are not sure. Tobi never tried to warp a perfect jinchuuriki nor Elite Uchiha. That would be suicide.

He wanted to set the 9 tails free. Tobi had Naruto just where he wanted, chained unable to move. He was trying to perform exactly the same thing he did to Kushina.

I think you're underrating tobi's s/t jutsu and his pocket dimension a lot.... His warping jutsu is instantaneous. You can't just simply "escpae" it. Minato just escaped because he used what?? A s/t technique. And even then it was very close and minato almost got warped into the pocket dimension.

As for konan... She was ready to blow herself up together with tobi. I mean that was the suicide plan all the time. So that's a special situation.

Like many other member's already mentioned, tobi had the mizukage who was a perfect jink under genjutsu control for several years. So that should be proof that his genjutsu could hold a jink trapped in his pocket dimension. As for the sharingan user like Itachi, Sasuke and Madara. They can be put under genjutsu like any other shinobi, right? So I don't see why they couldn't be trapped in the pocket dimension by a genjutsu.

IMO it's obvious tobi was going to warp naruto into his pocket dimension in chapter 566 pages 12 and 13.

When tobi fought minato and his first attempt to warp minato failed he commented: "next time I'll warp you the moment I lay my hand on you". The first attempt to warp minato when Tobi was holding his arm, wasn't working because he was still talking with minato and didn't warp him right away. That's why minato had time to still use his ftg and got away.

In chapter 566 page 12 tobi says to naruto: "once I touch you with this hand, I win...." He was trying to warp naruto into his pocket dimension. As we know kakashi and guy were waiting for him to materialize. IMO that's also another hint that tobi was trying to warp naruto. Tobi always needs to materialize before he can absorb himself. Konan perfectly explained that.

The great part of Tobi's warping is that when warped, enemies are immediately put under a Genjutsu that stops them from being troublesome.

Also i don't think Tobi we've seen any scenes in the manga where Tobi needed to warp any Jinchuuriki or High level Sharingan users.

Once u figure out he can only be intangible in a 5min window the rest is easy for high ranking nin. Like the yondaime fight, speed ia everything. Hit him after that window an its over. He will fall apart.

I know that "instantaneous" might not have been the best wording. But the warp happens really fast. And minato just got away because of s/t -> ftg which definately is instantaneous. So in the manga it may look like the warp isn't that fast. But that minato only escaped using a s/t technique should be proof enough how fast it is.

In the situation with naruto, IMO he was just trying to start the warp but was interrupted by kakashi and guy. I guess tobi most likely felt the presence of the two.

I just think that because tobi said to guy and kakashi that they waited for him to materialize to touch naruto indicates that he wanted to warp naruto. He always needs to materialize before absorbing people.

But may be he also wanted to materialize to pull naruto's soul out, could be. Like I said, it's just my opinion anyway....

1. Warping Tech is not instantaneous but comes really closer to FTG.
2. Tobi must materialize himself before using any jutsu on his opponent. And Konan explained Tobi takes more time to materialize/warp himself instead of his opponents.
3. If you remember it took more chakra to warp Kurama (with massive size and massive chakra) using ftg by Minato. So IMO, in the same way, it will take more chakra/time to warp Naruto as Naruto has Kurama sealed inside of him.
4. Tobi couldn't extract the Kurama until Kushina was at lowest of her chakra levels because Tobi's beast extraction method can not break through fully powered seal.
5. About meeting Naruto on forest - it was just talk or plot no jutsu by Kishi. If u see like this then there are lot of possibilities like this and manga would have been over long back without any dialogues between villains or heroes.

If he didnt why was he trying to warp the 4th their? Also if he really has no advantage, he would warp them there and just leave them for a few days until they starve to death.

Also he was planning on warping Naruto there, if Kakashi and Guy would not have interupted. And we know he is capable of controling a jinchuriki from the previous Mizukage, so I see that as a non issue

Minato doesnt have the same resistance as the Elite Uchiha's and perfect jinchuurikis against Genjutsu.
And we DONT know if he was trying to warp Naruto. He could have easily wanted to take the soul out. Come with proof and no assumptions please.

Konan who is intelligent observed Tobi for a while to figure out his limit, I don't think Madara would be able to do that in a fight. Even if he does figure it out he hasn't shown anything to continuously attack for that interval and then there's izanagi which would catch Madara off guard.
