Well, he DID torture him in REAL life. Why? Torture is always a mental thing. Pain is always experienced in the mind. Genjutsu works on the mind, therefore the torture was absolutely real.

I am going to base my whole argument based on this, because to me everything else that Itachi did:
1) Killing his family
2) Torturing his brother
etc. are ALSO evil, but you guys will SOMEHOW justify those acts of violence. The one act of Itachi that cannot be justified logically by even the greatest Itachilover is "Kakashi's needless torture"
1.If u see Itachi as a Uchiha: u see him killing his family, if u see Itachi as a protector of Konoha: He was killing rebels who was a threat to his village and the propagating agent of a great war.He chose duty over family and a entire village and more over his own clan. Mass Murder is never justified.

2. He mentally Tortured Sasuke so that he cld stop being cocky and train hard enough to reach Iachi's level or he is gona die. Also it was a reminder to get ready to kill him (Itachi planned to die by Sasuke's hands, and he didnt have much time). PLUS GENJUTSU never really hurts does it?

(Itachi planned to die by Sasuke's hands, and he didnt have much time).
So much for Itachi's plans, had he consulted with a professional psychotherapist he could used that help to overcome his mental disorders, PLUS he could have learned some developmental psychology:

Dev Psy 101: Intense or prolonged mental trauma in developmental stages leads to psychopathy, apathy etc.

Anyway, I am not here to discuss Itachi's silliness and his stupid egocentric plans; let us discuss the core issue:

1) Why was Kakashi tortured so intensely, if Itachi truly hated violence?
2) Only a psychopath would have an imagination that involves a person being stabbed non-stop for 72 hours. So do you agree that Itachi was a psychopath?

Psychology says that people launch personal attacks when they cannot defend their argument on impersonal/logical grounds. Thanks for proving that my argument is beyond logical attack :)
Or I've already defended Itachi a couple times today. And your using more complicated ways of trying to beat someone in an argument like "Psychology says..." Good job.
Are you honestly one of those kids who thinks Itachi was evil? If so, why?

Yes, because
Good. You used a quote. Here's a quote of mine:

"Sometimes you need to use violence to solve problems. Sometimes just talking will not succeed. And Itachi and Danzo were in a race against time in stopping the Uchiha, they didn't know when they were going to strike.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but we live in a fu*ked up world. Do you think you could stop the Nazi party from starting WWII and the Holocaust with words? Or Osama bin Laden from destroying the World Trade Center with words? Or Joseph Stalin from sending people to work camps with words?
When you have enough supporters for a full on rebellion you can't stop their emotions and what they perceive as "justified" with words.
Itachi killed the young and old so that the Uchiha name wouldn't be dragged through the mud and people would not hate them anymore then they already did. He took all the blame, Konoha hates Itachi and think of the Uchiha clan as saddening and unfortunate. If the innocents survived and word got out Uchiha were planning a rebellion, they would be miserable and despised. Killing them was a kindness. And word would get out People would ask questions as to why Itachi ONLY killed the Uchiha higher-ups, then remember how bad the Uchiha had it, then they would put 2 and 2 together.
All innocents would have been hated and disrespected until the day they died anyway. Killing them was a kindness.
I put reason into my thoughts and I look at the bigger picture, so I guess I'm not better than these "clowns".
Please think, if Itachi hadn't done what he did then the world would be plunged in war and Konoha would be wiped from the map. Millions would have died, but because of Itachi's selfless actions, at the most 50-90 died."
If you want another say so. It has something to do with Itachi stopping a civil war and a world war and saving Konoha by selflessly killing his family.

That is exactly why I am not going to argue about Itachi's other actions, because we can go on endlessly.

I am only going to stick to

1) Itachi inflicted needless violence on Kakashi, and arguably Sasuke too.
2) Anyone who has an imagination to control space and time to make a person experience pain non-stop for 72 hours has some mental issues.
By the way, I am a long time lurker in NB, and I like your tone and posts :)

Why did he use Tsukiyomi on Kakashi?

On one hand, he talks about hating violence, hating to live in times of war etc. On the other hand, he makes people [Sasuke twice; Kakashi once] experience the pain of being stabbed over and over again; or watching corpses fall over for 72 hours!

There are two problems with this:

1) Itachi inflicted needless violence on Kakashi, and arguably Sasuke too.
2) Anyone who has an imagination to control space and time to make a person experience pain non-stop for 72 hours has some mental issues.

I am now going to grab some popcorn while you phanbois get all worked up and try to defend Itachi.
1) he does it for da right reasons--- protect sasuke and the village
2) you talk about his defences and attacks but others do worse things plz try not to be judgemental but i see ur side of things

your so fail. Everything itachi did had a purpose, he did that because he wanted konoha to believe thats he was 'bad'. and twice on sasuke, was to make sasuke hate him. he was doing this all according to his plan for sasuke but tobi screwed it up. Itachi is perfectly sane, an insane person wouldn't lecture opponents while owning them.

the only hypocrite here is you being insane trying to start a arguement all ready lostU_U

Ego generic plans? Dont be biased my friend. Itachi planned to be Killed by Sasuke only because he felt that he had wronged him. Itachi was also felt guilty and sad for murdering his clan . . . He did it only out of necessity to stop a war. He planned that after Sasuke wld kill him, ie, a legendary S rank criminal . . . Sasuke wld be called a hero and he can rebuild the Uchiha clan with a great name.

Kakashi torture? (It was a battle not a tea party) He 'thought' he was tortured, it was only in the genjutsu world. Unless u prefer Itachi stabbing him with real knives or really frying him alive with his Katons or set aflame with amaterasu etc (way of getting killed); a genjutsu never 'hurts' much.

If I stab a person physically two things happen:
1) Physical damage: Bleeding, scarring etc.
2) Psychological damage: My Nervous system constantly gets signals about the incoming damage, the mental pain is intolerable. My SNS(sympathetic nervous system) goes boom!

Tsukiyomi simulates reality, space and time. In other words, if I stab you non-stop for 72 hours and then heal your wounds, the amount of damage you suffer is what Tsukiyomi causes.

You would passout from the pain/psychological component alone, or even die if I force you to stay awake.

As far as Sasuke is concerned, Itachi was guiding him, or trying to guide him, to celebrated heroism and immortality. Had things gone according to Itachi's plans, Sasuke might have been very happy and glorified by now. Given that he had to see his parents die anyway, reliving it seems a small price to pay in comparison with the benefits Itachi intended for him.
As far as Kakashi is concerned, Itachi had to A. keep up appearances as an Akatsuki badass in order to keep his cover and continue protecting Konoha B. stop Kakashi from thwarting, capturing, or killing him and C. preferably not kill or maim any Konoha ninjas. He had to do something disabling to Kakashi in order to accomplish all of those objectives. Was there another option short of a week of torture? Perhaps, perhaps not. Kakashi is resilient, psychologically speaking. A less horrible Tsukuyomi might have failed to put Kakashi out of the fight, and/or blown Itachi's cover.
In the real world, of course, there is never a justification for torture. In fiction, however, circumstances may indeed require it.

In actual world it was only a second, and neurobiology states that if your nerves are overstimulated ur brain shuts down to cope with it. Thats why Kakashi fainted. Also it was battle and as he cared for Konoha he cld not afford to kill one of its best jonins yet he could not give indication that he cared for Konoha by going easy on them, so he went the genjutsu way.

Also correction in RED

Also read this again:

He did not faint. Everything happened in blink of an eye. He spent 72 hours in hell, and by the time he was back, other jounins remarked that he was standing a second ago, and has dropped to his knees now.

He could have kept appearances in other ways, also Kakashi could have NEVER captured Itachi. In fact Kakashi was already in defensive mode, along with the other jounins [who had closed their eyes]. Hell, he could have susanoed.

But Itachi's preferred attack has always been Tsukiyomi torture [successfully tortured Sasuke twice, he attempted it third time but Sasuke countered it]. This approach suggests some sort of mental sickness to me. Itachi could use some psychoanalytical psychotherapy.

In the real world, of course, there is never a justification for torture.
In other words, you agree with me that Itachi is good only inside a fiction book, but in the real world, you would consider him a maniac? Welcome to my club!

He was out cold in hospital for weeks . . . . As i said the body when detects unalterable pain, the brain goes offline or semifunctional in anime at least. Also please understand Tsukiomy is genjutsu, it creates illusions and Itachi's genjutsu is powerful enought make one second seem like 3 days. So natually so much pain packed in one second . . . . at least he didnt die.
