So I was thinking about the current inconsistencies regarding time-at-death and Edo revival state.
I think this possibility works. The Edo's are revived no matching time-at-death, but instead matching the time of DNA extraction. So if you were to use DNA from a young Itachi, you would get a young Edo. I don't think there are any facts to support this, but it could explain several inconsistencies.
