Då får jag be om ursäkt, men glöm inte att det är endast så rasistiskt som du gör detSluta kalla oss för svennar, tycker det är rasistiskt :|
Min pappa heter ju fan Sven![]()
Facepalm..
I see...xd I'm totally loose at modern cinema. As I said, I only watch old movies. But Prometheus sounds interesting (Ripley thing xd).El oh el! Prometheus is still in the cinemas, it premiered just recently, which might be why you haven't heard of it ;D
Ripey is one badass character! The one Noomi plays is also sort of 'Ripleyish'.
Ah, I actually don't listen to Europe personally, I just used it as it was old and probably would be recognised
Lost horizon, however, is amongst my YouTube bookmarks! O^O
It seems they are Swedish! A kind of avantgarde, metal band(says wiki O_O)
The Swedish tradition I like the most is.. Uhm.. The Swedish midsummer, perhaps?
I've really never thought of any tradition as a favourite, so I honestly don't have any, but I can't say I dislike midsummer, lots of tasty food(potatoes since I'm a vegetarian)!
Midsummer is basically, if you are to follow tradition strictly, two days(midsummer day, and eve) where there is festivities, and although this tradition pre-dates anything later to Christianity, Christianity celebrates something on the same day.
You would dance around the maypole and sing songs, and for dinner there is early potatoes and herring.
Also, the reason as to why I said two days instead of one(which it actually is(midsummer day))8, is because everyone is drunk and some keep partying onto the next day(midsummer eve)!xd
Oh! I've heard of it! Dia de la muerte, no? I do speak a little Spanish(better at understanding than talking xd), so if I spelled that wrong, allow me to be rightfully ashamedU_U
Btw, what is it you offer? Flowers and?
It was sort of good, not incredibly good, just good~I see...xd I'm totally loose at modern cinema. As I said, I only watch old movies. But Prometheus sounds interesting (Ripley thing xd).
DSO are avant-garde metal indeed. Their sound is quite particular and original. Some songs are like evil jazz/swing.
I didn't know anything bout midsumer tradition. You know, those days ppl go to this place:You must be registered for see imagesSun pyramid in Teothihuacan, to receive the "summer energy". Aside that, there's nothing special around here (I think).
Your holiday sounds funny.
"Día de muertos". You got it close. No need to be really ashamed.
In a classic offering you may seen the dead person photo, candles (supposdely to guide the souls, they have to be located at the four cardinal points, they're also a representation of fire), incense (as an aromatic element, to represent soul's purification), "papel picado" (yay!Aztec tradition), glasses with water or such (to the thristy soulsYou must be registered for see images), flowers (this one "cempasúchil"

Bold: Probably...IoI Idk, but in my yoga class the instructor organized a trip with that porpuse. It was sort of good, not incredibly good, just good~
Evil jazz/swing!xd
Midsummer is supposed to be spread around the world, but only in a few places. It's here in Scandinavia that it is mainly celebrated.
Summer energy =-= Hmmm... Vitamin D?
Now I shall withdraw myself to a corner in my room and weepU_U, I'm really ashamed.. Naw, it was close, so I'm not too depressed!:9
Whoa! There is a lot of different offerings then! Hopefully they'll receive those things in the afterlife(if there is such a thing)!
The Papel picado seems interesting, it is some kind of paper, I assume?
I could see the picture when I copied the URL and pasted it in a new tab, so I saw it.Bold: Probably...IoI Idk, but in my yoga class the instructor organized a trip with that porpuse.
Yh, hopefully. It'd be nice.
Papel Picado:
I put a pic in my last post but it seems like it didn't show it.You must be registered for see images

It's basically images of Death and elments of the offering... I suppose you could compare it with Saint's images... like to show your respect.
How Swedish ppl act towards Death?
I mean, Mexican ppl are afraid of it,and give respect to it, yet they celebrate it and wait for the soul of the dead...
I could see the picture when I copied the URL and pasted it in a new tab, so I saw it.
Ah, Death, well.. In Sweden there isn't really any traditions uniquely Swedish which reveres Death as such, it'd have to be imported things such as protestantism, having funerals and leaving flowers etc. at the graves of those whom have passed on, which is not uncommon.
BUT, there is something else, though I'm not well versed in it. It would be Aesir Faith, which is special to us here in Scandinavia.
What I can say is that it was a religion which was prominent here before missionaries came and spread Christianity.
There were several gods such as Odin, Thor, Freya and many others.
If you've ever heard the word 'Ragnarok' - 'Ragnarök' in Swedish, then that is something from the Aesir faith mythology.
Now, I can't say I know of any tradition, that those whom had this faith, which was related to death in and of itself, but Ragnarok was a kind of 'End of the world' process, so it would be almost related to death, though there is no tradition in it at all..
In today's society I can't really say that it is much different from how it is in many other places in the world where Christianity is prominent, since Aesir gods isn't really something believed in nowadays.
I am!UchihaBrat, you should be thankful to me! I revived this thread for you :O
A costly tradition?xd No, actually, weäve had one since long ago and it has something to do with the image we present to the rest of the world, stupid yes, but that's how it is.why do u still have a king?
It's cool, so I can see why!I like Papel picado.
Yh, I've heard a bit of Aesir mythology, especially bout Thor and the Ragnarok (I saw it in a tv show aired in History chanel). As far as I know Ragnarok is indeed a kind of "end of the world", I think it happens after Thor fought against a snake(Don't really remember its name) that was its worst enemy.
But in ragnarok not everything dies, there's left a tree (or something like that). This fact was either written by missionaries or took as an adventage by them to continue Aesir tradition smoothly with Christian Genesis.
Anyway, I'm not well versed in it either.
Why Swedish flag has that design?
Bold: All is about image. Most of humans judge by that first impression. Our sight is our most beloved sense. Mexico, for instance, tries to look as an exotic paradise full of adventures, as ya can see in the images of tourist advertising. On the other hand, the images news gives about Mexico is that is a dangerous country full of cartels and murders.I am!Thank you!

Yes, that's probably it, and sorry, it seems the translation was wrong!xd It's supposed to be Ragnaroc(in English) not Ragnarok(xd).
I've read that it's due to the influence of Christianity, it being a cross and all.
Why we use those colour, I have no idea!:ghehe:
Oooh O,O I'm learning a lot here!Bold: All is about image. Most of humans judge by that first impression. Our sight is our most beloved sense. None of that extremes it's completly true.
IoI I do know about Mexican flag:
The green, white and red were used from 1821, more and less (in fact Mexico has got many flags, but most of them had the color scheme). A that time our war for independency was over ant the army that achieved it was called "Trigarante Army" (Idk why trigarante...:gheheYou must be registered for see images. The said army was formed by an agreement known as Plan of Iguala (Iguala is the city were it was signed) which stated "freedom-independency from Spain-(green), Catholic religon(white) and unity btw eurepeans-Spainish ppl- and Mexicans -novohispanos- (red).
The eagle design was added afterwards. Supposedly it represent the image Aztec ppl saw as the signal to found Mexico-Tenochtitlan.
How's education system there?
This is interesting actually. I apreciate you took your time to explain me.Oooh O,O I'm learning a lot here!
Let's see, education system~
The ages are as follows:
For elementary school(up to junior high school) x-15
Then we have upper secondary school 15-18
University etc. for the ages above, unless you've advanced quicker and so on.
It's quite simple, elementary school is compulsory and the rest is of your own choice of whether you want to continue studying or not, though almost everyone continues with high school.
Since elementary school is compulsory, I don't think there's much to say other than that the grading was(it's changing as of the 1st of July) as follows:
IG=Not passed. - No points
G=Passed - 10 points
VG=Passed(Well) - 15 points
MVG=Passed(Very well). - 20 points
However, as I wrote, it will change to A, B, C, D, E and F.
To apply for a high school of your choice, you use the total of your points(about 320. It's the highest achievable points, even if you read more subjects, so as to make it somewhat fair). That is, if you're applying for a programme with a minimum acceptable amount of points of, let's say, 270, then you need at least 270 points from elementary school and the more the better, as it often isn't only you applying for it and the spots open are limited(the points required might rise).
Now then, to apply for university, you can go about it many different ways, since there are many different things to study, but generally it is as follows:
You use the total of your high school points(counted from 0-22,5) and apply for what you want you're interested in. Or, if your grades from High School are sort of bad, you could use a standard test being held twice a year here in Sweden, 'Högskoleprovet', to gain an advantage of sorts.
Pros and cons!
-It's good that the elementary level grades are compulsory!
-Since we have public and private schools, there is a lot to choose from.
-Some think it to be unfair that those whom does the standard test, gets this chance(you can apply to a university solely based on your scores in this test, though you must have completed a required minimum of courses/points in high school at least), while they have worked hard(yeah right, that's about 5% from what I can tell) in school.
-There are many drop outs from high school, whom doesn't manage to handle the pressure etc.
And that's about the most important parts, looking at it synoptically.
Sorry for writing so much! O_O
