Tsunade is Now the Strongest Sannin

As others have said, this is only true due to the technicality that she is the only current Sannin so by default she is now the "strongest". If all were alive she is the joke she has always been, people need to stop making her out to be some sort of fighter. She isn't, she's support and a glorified paper-pusher.

Jiraiya died fighting against all Six Paths of Pain and killed a few of them, I don't think Tsunade would have been able to do that, and found out the secret to Pain. Orochimaru died by a sneak attack from Sasuke and was sick when attacked but I still believed that he would have lost to Sasuke if full health. Tsunade we have seen her to only heal the entire village, pretty impressive and lots of chakra, and super strength said by Uchiha Madara to be stronger then the Raikage also the ability to regenerate and avoid death.

Base Jiraiya > Tsunade. Even with her monster strength and healing she has little to no counters for arsenal of ninjutsu + summonings, which could be used to trap or stall her while he preps a devastating attack or for her healing to wear off.

Oro > Tsunade. He has even more techs than Jiraiya. He would also have even less of a problem dealing with Tsunade. His speed is probably best of the three, which could be used to evade her until her healing wears off.

Her best talents lie in healing not fighting.

You guys fail to realize that she is much more powerful than all of them, one punch and they are dead. Tsunade can easily handle Oro's Edo Tensei with her amazing strength, plus the Hokage's are sealed, who is he going to use? :shrug:

It takes Jiraiya years to get into sage mode (sarcasm), even though he is good at evasion while doing so, Tsunade could easily beat them, plus her strength is unrivaled even if Jiraiya is in SM

Umm....Jiraiya's strength in sage mode is>or= Tsunade's strength U_U. His abilities, natural reflexes, and speed are enhanced greatly to heights that Tsunade could only dream of.

Tsunade is a medical ninja. She is a good fighter and can beat many other ninja, but medics are really where her strong points are.

Since the war has begun, Tsunade has really started to show off all that she really has to offer, and I now believe that Tsunade is the strongest Sannin.

Earlier in the mange, Jiraiya admitted that he had only came close to death two times: When Naruto went ape shit on him, and when he crossed Tsunade for being a pervert, this shows that Tsunade could easily defeat Jiraiya if she caught him off guard.

Tsunade has also been shown to have the upperhand over Orochimaru:

I think that in a battle now, Tsunade could defeat Oro, physical attacks won't work, but that's only for a limited time. Oro can only regenerate a few times before he exhausts too much chakra, shown when he fought Naruto in 4 tails mode, after that, he is vulnerable.

Tsunade is now fighting an holding her own against Madara, and now with the release of her new technique, she is pretty much unbeatable unitl someone pushes her to the point that her jutsu causes strain to her body, and I doubt Jiraiya or Oro could do that since it has yet to happen with Madara.

One more important statement is that Jiraiya displayed great power before he died, and Oro's power has been displayed throughout. Tsunade is still alive and showing us more tricks up her sleeve, I believe if she did die, she would have more to show, but as of right now, I believe she is the strongest Sannin.

Why these three animals? There is another reason from Japanese legends. I'm sure everybody knows the game "Scissors, Paper, Stone" (also known as Janken in Japanese) where the scissors cuts paper, paper covers stone and the stone smashes the scissors. The Slug, Snake, Toad works in the same concept.

In this variation, the Frog is afriad of the Snake, the Snake is afriad of the Slug and the Slug is afriad of the Frog. This is influenced by the Sansukumi way of thinking where it keeps the 3 objects in a deadlock. The fact that the Sannins use these 3 animals as summons may be the author hinting that there is no stronger one among them, and that their strength are more or less equal.

When Fukasaku told Tsunade, Naruto and others how Jiraiya died, Tsunade said that now that he's dead noone has the capacity to defeat Pain....so she herself admitted that Jiraiya was stronger. And as for Orochimaru, Tsunade beat the crap out of him when his arms were useless(!) - so he was in a weakened state- but she couldnt put a scratch on him...and again,Oro couldnt use his hands! So I dont see how can anyone say that Tsunade is the strongest...

oro is the stronges sannin, before he was evil he was going to be the hokage. Jiryia was offered it next but refused. Tsunade was the only person left who could/would take it. She is the weakest sannin by far.
