Itachi's intelligence is big help in a fight. Kabuto even said that Itachi could easily read his opponent, which makes him dangerous.

How's that going to help when he's got Gedo Mazo's dragon coming at him? There are just some things it can't help with, like how he need Naruto and Bee's help to break CT, by himself he could see through the technique but would still get crushed.

When CT tensei is used Nagato keeps his distance and it doesn't take long to do. He just puts his hands together, the black ball forms quickly and he throws it.

If he amaterasu's Nagato, shinra tensei and petra path block it so there's no need to evade. He can also use several paths at the same time. Also Itachi can't spam ms techniques so he can't use amterasu a lot.
