Its just that Kakashi didnt want to rely on kamui and moreover he was not sure at that point of time what would have happened if he used kamui
moreover we can see deidara escaped kamui and he (kakuzu) was in akatsuki as well
so kakashi had a feeling in the gut what happens if kakuzu escapes kamui and I am all out of chakra
imo that might be the reason he didnt used kamui throughout the fight
but if the reinforcement didnt arrived he would have used it xd

Kakashi had used 3 raikiris(well, 4 if you count the one he was going to use to kill Hidan). The one to "kill" Kakuzu, and the 2 to block Kakuzu's raiton attack, before the real fight even started. That was probably half, or close to at least, of his chakra at that point. He had no room to "play" with Kakuzu.

1. Kakashi only said he'd try and take it out with Kamui because it was their only shot, and he wasn't about to let Gai go and kill himself.

2. That Kakashi has much more chakra, much more experience using Kamui and is just overall better than the one that fought vs Kakuzu.

he would use kamui to suck the attack (from wich naruto + yamato combo saved him) if he did so, he, already used up, would have been even more exhausted and kakuzu would simply finished him off with second blast
or third...

He says "this time ended without me needing to use the mangekyou sharingan".

He said that because Naruto, Yamato and crew showed up. He stated quite specifically he would have needed to use it if they didn't show up. You're taking what he said completely wrong.

Although i agree that he could have taken out kakuzu with kamui,but it is still doubtful since kakuzu was to close to him, so close that he could have snatched his eye out.

And kakashi was not playing with him,he had already lost half of his chakra with the 3 raikiri he used and made a shadow clone, when kakuzu grabbed him and started ripping his heart out his last shot was kamui but it was not a sure win,if he were to miss that, he would have been a sitting duck in front of kakuzu.
