Does the tails in a tailed beast matter

I know Kurama is strongest ( 9 tails) and 8 tails is second but 7 tails looks weak
Shukagu ( 1 tail ) is also strong so is he 3rd ?

lol i always turn to japanese mythologoy when this comes up .... anyways in mythology it was said that the tails estimated they're strength and that only the nine tails was said to have unlimited chakra , until the 8 tails ingested a sword or something like that and gained unlimited chakra somehow .... but watever, the point is in mythology the tails had a big part but it seems in the manga they arnt following that to much however i still believe the tails are relevent
