[Suggestion] New Section

Donate the cash for the extra things needed to host such a section and I'll agree. I'm sure such a section could create a financial as well as mental burden on Versuvio because space would have to be allotted to host all of those resources (i.e. data).

Now I could be mistaken, but it sounds like an awful lot of images would be hosted in this section and if it's connected to the rest of the site, it could slow the servers down. Shell out the cash or find someone who will. .-.

Or the tutorials section could be cleaned up, as well as the rest of the sections and convert the tutorials section to this, there are many ways to implement it, but then again this is merely a suggestion, it is up to the admins to decide if it will pass, etc...

It does not mean NB will be hosting all the resources on its servers @_@ Mr. Intelligent.

It means we will be Hotlinking all the resources.

Who said the images and files would be hosted here? There are lots of sides like Mediafire and Deviantart which will work just fine. Nothing would be hosted on here.

Meh, I'm not a fan of links. There isn't supposed to be a whole lot of linking to sites outside of NB and allowing such does expose members to potential risks and thus this section would have to be a "Use at your own risk" section.

That's why I focused on hosting instead of links because it doesn't take a lot of effort for someone to post one bad link and subsequently expose several members to malware, viruses, spyware, etc...

Tutorials also usually require a member spend a great deal of time formatting the thread and making it look nice. This makes it less likely to contain a bad link since the member who created it probably wouldn't have spent so much time creating it and making it look nice if their intent was to cause issues.

Now, look at what your suggesting where every member is encouraged to create their own thread with their own links, and you're bound to run into some bad ones. Is this a strong possibility? Not really, but it is still likely to occur.

Though people may not like my style or agree with my methods, I do all of this for a reason: to ensure that people are truly thinking their suggestions through and not half-assing things. There are pros and cons to everything, and nothing should be accepted without some form of challenge.

If you can ensure the integrity of the links, then there isn't much of an issue except maybe copyright problems, but those are rarely enforced on such a level as being suggested. I do know that linking to sources outside of NB isn't looked highly upon by the Staff, so my questioning of the section does have merit. I'm game for you guys getting what you need, but I personally would like to know that you have at least thought of the negative sides of your argument. Not trying to be harsh or overly critical, just realistic.

Yes I have thought things through believe me otherwise I wouldn't have posted this suggestion. Well if you look into the tutorials section you will notice that most links have are broken due to them being on Megaupload, Almost 75-80% of them are unusable and therefore this is where I believe this could work, I know that posting links to other websites is highly frowned upon, but these links could only be from storing websites such as mediafire/etc.. (forgot the other ones).

As for the suggestion, I am sort of neutral like belgium here, so I will offer my thoughts to you about it.

For starters, I think it's a great idea to host a section where people can put resources and so on for the site. I just don't get why'd you go to so much detail to saying different types of renders when you could've said renders in general. xd But anyway, if the work would be put into it such as creating rules for needing to put in certain renders or making sure you have to put in where you got the packs from to make sure they're safe. I know that packs from places like deviantArt are good, so things like that. Alternatively, people could just use mediafire saying it's a trusted pack or something.

As for the disagreeing part, I'm really not sure about why I disagree with it, so disregard this. xd

I think there needs to be more for the section should it be implemented, such as trustworthy sites to get resources, the gfx dictionary, and assorted tutorials which anyone can really follow.

That's correct. People don't wanna get their stocks/renders and ideas from people on the forum. Most ppl wanna be unique and find their material on their own. At least that's my understanding.

Besides, we already have several thread like this created by mods and others. Specific thread on specific topics. I can't imagine it being very effective if you have to look for a tutorial by scroll through 10's of pages to find someone who posted it in this thread since only moderators in the GFX section can edit the main thread post to add stuff to the front page. U_U
