EDIT: Failing to read the last bit of a post FTL. Good catch, although here:

Itachi just activated his mangekyou, and Kabuto is looking at him. Before this, Itachi had his normal sharingan out, and Kabuto was also looking at him.
I should add that whether he used a genjutsu or clones is beside the point; Itachi made an opening, which could easily have been fatal were he not trying to undo the edo tensei. Izanami is again overkill.
I've heard worst. Some people say "it only works if you don't believe in yourself".
A misconception is that it only works on bad guys and that's just false.
If this was the case why didn't itachi tsukuyomi his ass and force him into ending edo tensi?
Itachi wanted to use Tsukoyomi to understand how to stop edo tensei.

In any case, the focus of my posts is that Izanami merely creates a long-lasting opening, when a short one would still suffice for Itachi to one-shot someone. Whether he creates this short opening with genjutsu or clones or whatever else is beside the point. Izanami's cost and setup is not worth it.
Dude, you are awesome. When I read the thread that stated it was "absolutely useless in combat" I felt like lecturing the guy who had brought the thread up. Thanks for taking care of it for me. +Rep!![]()
