Anyone else catch that? Did he use it during Sasuke's childhood? What do you guys think?

Wrong. It was mistranslated, he meant he was planning to use it on Sasuke.

It was not mistranslated, it was misunderstood, Itachi's sentence doesn't say the He DID use it, it was said that he went as far as to use it on Sasuke, but that doesn't mean he was successful which was proven when he used it on himself. It definitely was NOT mistranslated.

It is mistranslated. It was supposed to say he intended on using it to guide him.

meant to say wasnt it used on nagato

I know, and I'm asking you what was used on Nagato because I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you asking if Itachi used Kotoamatsukami on Nagato?

He meant he planned on using KA through Naruto (maybe).

I'm pretty sure that's what he meant.

Itachi was referring to this:

Choft is correct.

Itachi gave Shisui's sharingan eye by using one of his crow to Naruto. So that when the time comes for Naruto vs Sasuke battle to save konoha from sasuke's destruction in near future, The crow will emerge from Naruto's mouth casting Shisui's KA genjutsu on Sasuke. This was Itachi's plan for Sasuke but it went on to be applied to himself as Itachi never thought that he would be resurrected by Kabuto using edo tensei.

Itachi never used Shisui's KA genjutsu on Sasuke. Its a translation mistake. Ignore it. :)

If everything went to Itachi's, and Naruto and Sasuke fights, with the naruto still having the crow Itachi gave him. If the crow where to come out, thats when kotoamatsukami was supposed to happen. But instead it happened when Naruto and B fought edo Itachi.
