That mkv file is annoying. I like to download anime then transfer it to my usb to watch them on my big screen in my xbox but with mkv files it does not let me save those anime with that format, and there are great animes with only that format like fma brotherhood...

If you want to play those on your ps3 you have to download a converter and chage the MKV file to mp4, if you watch on pc you can download VLC media player for free and you are good to go :)

Alriight i have any video converter. Will me converting them result in any less resolution? Or will it still be 1080p?

So with this vlc video player you can switch the mkv format to mp4..? Or just watch the video on your computer
NO, what you need is codecs.
You just need the codecs to play *.mkv

Here:

VLC is a good media player, but you just need the codec to play mkv.

.mkv files are just containers that hold (usually) video file(s), sound file(s) and various other files, like subs. Any type of video can be in there. If you want to convert it and possibly burn subs permanently in, you can use something like handbrake:

It works great on linux. I'm not sure how it runs on Windows or Mac. Try it. It's pretty easy. I suggest installing your codecs before installing handbrake though.

No, you don't. At least not if you're using VLC Media Player.
You only need those Codecs if you want to play them with Windows Media Player or other players that usually don't support MKV-files but I would seriously suggest using VLC Media Player, I am using it for every video I have, even if it's not even MKV.

Well that's a shame but there are always sites that upload anime specially encoded for Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 - You just need to find them ;)

Mkv to Mp4 converters always leave a very down quality video after the conversion ....
I tried demuxing and remuxing the mkv files in which case i loose the subs...

I don't know why MKV is getting all that popular when .MP4 serves the purpose very well :p

Because of Soft Subs for one reason, MKV is way better than retarded MP4 and encoding allows you to get way better quality out of it, why do you think are Blu-Ray Rips MKV Files?

Well you know more about video formats and players than I do.
From my experience though, VLC never did play *.mkv till I loaded the codecs.

What's good about VLC, they haven't updated in forever.
Tells you how good it is.
