Deidara only won because Gaara had to product Sunagakure as well as suppress shukaku!

Now that he lost Shukaku i'm not sure if he win or not.
I agree that it's true that Gaara was in the Desert...that said, it's not quite that simple. Gaara was fighting above the Desert and trying to keep the fight away from the civilians.
Deidara was trying to bring the fight into the streets of Sunagakure which Gaara had to put up with. If it had been Gaara vs Deidara in the Desert without Suna anywhere near them, then Gaara wouldn't have had to gather so much sand and hold it so high above the village for the duration of the fight.
I agree though that Deidara was not trying to kill Gaara, but that being said, Deidara did run outta clay during that fight...so had Gaara lived through that last attack, Deidara would have been out of projectiles.
I feel that Gaara now, would demolish Deidara. Gaara is far superior to Sasuke was when he beat Deidara.
I hate hwne people say "Hurr, Gaara had to protect the village which makes up for all of Deidara's disadvantages and then some therefore Gaara stomps". Gaara wasn't the only one with disadvantages. Deidara's attacks were too powerful to use half the time, Deidara wasn't allowed to kill Gaara and admitted fighting to capture was much more difficult for him.
This time Deidara unlike last time isn't restricted some of his more powerful moves. Gaara will simply say "Wtf" at the C4, but he has absolutely no counter to it so he'd just think it's a dud, breathe it and that's the end of that.
Deidara can just drop C3 on him one more time as well. Gaara will have to protect himself just like he protected the village so regardless of how he had to "protect the village" before, he'll have to use the same amount of sand if Deidara used C3 again. So his "saving the village" is irrelevant now, he used the same amount of chakra as before. He gonna die.
Not to mention, he isn't even in a desert like last time. Nor, if i tcounts for anything does he have shukaku.
If worse absolutely comes to worse then Deidara will just blow himself up and kill Gaara in the process, the absolute worse scenario assuming Deidara sits on his ass and lets Gaara win he'll still manage a draw so there's very very little chance for Gaara to do anything in this fight.
Deidara stomps
A>B, B>C than A>C doesn't exist in this manga. What you don't understand is that Sasuke was a bad match up for Deidara cuz he could neutralise his clay with raiton, something Gaara doesn't possess. It's as if you say that Gai>Bee cuz he has beaten someone Bee couldn't. That doesn't work like that. Gai was simply a bad match up for Kisame(cuz he couldn't absorb his chakra) like Kisame was a bad match up for Bee(he could absorb his chakra).I agree that it's true that Gaara was in the Desert...that said, it's not quite that simple. Gaara has no knowledge of the nanobombs so how will he counter it? He'll just think that the giant bomb was a dud. And if needed Deidara will just say, "Damn I didn't have enough chakra to use this big of a bomb" Besides they're nanobombs for a reason, you think a sand dome will stop them? Gaara never ever creates a dome of sand without a little space to peek his head out anyway assuming Sand can protect against nanobombs.Any attack Gaara does not perceive, the sand will stop. And the nano-bombs were only small, not fast. The sand would form a cocoon to protect him.

1: Gaara has made a full cocoon.
2: Gaara's sand acts to defend him from the things even he does not perceive. he doesn't need to be able to detect an attack for the sand to defend him against it.
3: You have no reason to think nanobombs would get through Gaara's special chakra infused sand. It might act as an effective barrier.
1) Last time he fought Deidara he didn't, and ever since the Part 1 fight with Sasuke he has never used a 'full cocoon'
2) He lost that ability with Shukaku IIRC, regardless not too relevant because of 3
3) Deidara already mixed his sand in with Gaara's and beat him, he could easily do the same. C4 is much harder and Gaara will never know it's there. This is a ridiculous assumption that Gaara will randomly cover himself entirely in a sand dome to defend against something he has no idea is coming.
