They were feared because they had very very powerful Fuinjutsu. They were the Fuinjutsu Masters of the Naruto universe. Why else would they be destroyed if all they did was sealed monsters..???

They are of the clan. Naruto and Nagato are of the Uzumaki clan, they carry the family name therefore they're part of the clan they're part of the family they may not have been alive back then but the can still represent their clan in terms of reputation, however that has little baring.Rofl no they didn't. Pein and naruto existed after the clan was wiped out. :flaw::flaw::flaw: Uzamaki clan were not fighters. Just a sealing squad. They suck.
Back then The Uzumaki were the best candidates for Jinchuuriki and sealing jutsu is a dangerous mofo and it can be used in combat (i.e how Orochimaru shut down Naruto's chakra in the forest of death, that seal disrupts chakra and other seals and is of great useage in a combat setting)
You want to know what sucks? A clan of spoiled power hungry shinobi that kill their friends and steel their brother's eyes for power and they're feared all over the god damn place yet they're taken out by one of their own and in a single night, that's pathetic.
The Uzumaki were feared, which was why they were taken out in the Second or Third War.
Why you're hating on the Uzumaki I can't understand really.
Here's how I see it with these three clans You have three equally powerful clans in terms of ability yet three different reputations, fates, and legacys.
Senju-Clan of 1000 techniques, these guys had chakra and jutsu up the ass and that alone was enough to go on par with the Uchihas
Reputation: One of the strongest clans, rivals to the Uchiha and equal to them. They possessed a leader who was considered the strongest shinobi of all time after the Sage.
Fate: Unknown disappearance, one moment you have a whole clan then Hashirama and Tobirama die and you don't here anything from them anymore, the only living Senju is 1/4 Senju and is also Uzumaki as well
Legacy: Will of Fire The Hokage Legacy which lives on (First two were Hokage, Third was taught by the first two, fourth was taught by the third who was taught by the first two, current one is the granddaughter/grandniece of first two and student of the third)

Fate: Wiped out by 1-2 members of their own clan
Reputation: Equal Senju, power obsessed, derrived from the eldest son who chose a path of vengence because he couldn't accept his father's wishes. Kill their friends for power, take their brother's eyes for more power. decietful, disgraceful, ungrateful
Legacy: Sasuke Uchiha...need I say more? I will anyway A complete and utter disgrace to the Uchiha name, that was supposed to be respectable but has fallen so far

Uzumaki-Sealing jutsu beyond any other clan, longlivity, Vast amounts of chakra in the average person, prime Jinchuuriki candidates.
Fate: Wiped out during war however there were survivors that separated to keep the bloodline going.
Reputation: Best sealers in the field (as seen with Minato who learned most if not all his seals from his wife has learned to apply them into battle as Fuinjutsu is not just supplamentary it can be combative) became so feared due to their abilities they were wiped out (but by more then one or two people

In terms of strength I place them all equal. In terms of the better (by better I mean overall not just abilities I mean in reputation bred shinobi past and present, abilities) it would be Uzumaki. What we see now from the Uchiha either requires Senju abilities or has only been accessable to 4-5 people...ever.
All Clans are Strong as their own !

Lol at the things you write. It probably took and army to kill the Uzamaki's and even than not all were killed. Uchiha got wiped out by a 13 year old kid, yer they are real elite aren't they.
There is no reason as to why the Uzamaki couldn't be the best. Senju = Uchiha but I would say slightly in favour of the senju, since Hashi>Madara. Now the Uzumaki have had like 2 frames so its hard to tell, but they were whipped out because they were a massive threat if they were to take part in the 1st/2nd (?) Shinobi war. Notice that Uchiha's or Senju weren't target since they obviously posed less of a threat.
Now if you think about it after a certain age regarless of senju/uchiha the uzamaki's would always be better. Notice when the 3rd fought Oro Enma said he was nothing to what he used to be. So basically whilst age would hamper an uchiha/senju(maybe not senju as much) the Uzumaki's would still be going strong thanks to their long lives.
Also the long life thing makes them able to learn a lot more techniques in their time.
So basically if you were to go on that Uzumaki's have longer 'primes' and don't lose it as early so I would say overall:
Uzumaki>Senju>Uchiha

Uzumakis indeed have some very good abilities apart from sealing also ... thats y their clan has been wiped out ....

Did some idiot just call the uzumakis weak, let me remind you that madara could suppress kurama with his sharingan, hashirama could suppress kurama with his wood style but kushina could suppress kurama with just her chakra,i mean look at what they can do, their highly durable, they have powerful chakra,they can suppress tailed beast, sense chakra, they have high levels of stamina,they can regenerate(or heal quickly),sense evil emotions,plus their dangerous sealing techniques,so what part of any of that weak? senju pretty much died out, the uzumakis were wiped out my unknown circumstances, and the uchihas were wiped out by a 13 year older and a masked murderer.
