It seems the Uchiha's downfall was ultimately their own pride. The Hyuuga for instance placed a seal on the forehead of members who may try to destroy the hierarchy. They didn't trust in their own ability to defeat the person who decided to uprise. The Uchiha however, didn't do such a thing. It seems they thought they would be strong enough to squash any resistance and it doesn't seem they thought a member of their clan would turn on them when history (those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it i.e. Madara) said it was bound to happen. No other clan not even the haughty Hyuuga wanted to try and take power of Konoha. If the Uchiha had succeeded the villages power would have been extremely crippled at which point any of the five great shinobi nations could have defeated Konoha leading to the Uchiha's massacre. I also don't see a clan who was defeated by Sharingan Tobi and Teenage Itachi defeating every leaf ninja including Hiruzen, Jiraiya and Tsunade. At which point if an ally country decides to help or an antagonistic country decides to attack it's over for the Uchiha. Ultimately if the Uchiha had accepted their place in Konoha their clan could have thrived.
Also they apparently had no plan in place for protecting their Sharingan should one die as seen by Obito's eye and the many eyes Danzo was sporting. Which is explainable if they thought they could not be beaten.

So it seems the reason their eyes were stolen and the reason they didn't survive as a clan was ultimately their own ego.
What do you guys think?

"Pride comes before the fall", or so they say.

Yes, I do believe you are correct. Just as many nations today cling to their more respectable past while their present is on decline.

Another troll thread it seems. Dunno why randomly the next hot topic is about the uchiha clan. Now i know they are one of the most hated due to many reasons but ive never seen threads dedicated to them.

Anyway it seems like id have to put another thread on hold and fully explain what tobi said when he said if such a clan had followed on with their intentions they would rock the very foundations of konoha

I, somewhat, agree. I say, that Danzou and Orochimaru involvement could be the reason of mostly behind the Uchiha Massacre. So it was not just the majority of the Uchiha sprouting the Rebelling.

It's really not a troll thread. Tell me what lead to their demise if not pride? I actually like the Uchiha Clan Obito, Shisui and Itachi but the fact remains that it was the overall ego of the Uchiha clan that lead to their plight today

Even though the Uchiha were foolish in trying to uprise, they were basically being oppressed; consider, Madara and Hashirama both founded the village. So for the Uchiha's to be cordoned off into their own section of the village and not have equal power in the village's running (i.e. The Hokage), tension was obviously going to form. The Hyugas knew their place in the village, whereas the Uchiha knew they were deserving of more. They could've caused serious problems for Konoha if they'd gone through with it.

The part i read which i usually facepalm here not just you is that because tobi and itachi solo'ed they couldnt have done any damage at all to konoha. Anyway i do to an extent agree that they had pride issues, but not the reasons you gave when you used the hyuuga as an example with the curse seal

They would have caused very big problems. But the strength of Konoha would have been far lower. They would have lost clan members and the Hidden Leaf would have lost powerful shinobi. All-in-All Konoha would've been to weak to defend itself from say the Hidden Cloud Village. Or Perhaps the Hidden Stone which the kage of hated all other great Shinobi Nations and wouldn't have had a moral issue attacking. The Hidden Sand was Konoha's ally. But they were the ally before the coup whether or not the Hidden Sand would ally with Konoha after the Coup would remain to be seen.

Itachi and Tobi ambushed them which does make a fight much easier. But if Itachi's father had MS then being tied up wouldn't have stopped him from using a Susanoo for instance. They were strong but without a large number of MS users I don't see them actually over throwing the hidden leaf. Causing damage and chaos without a doubt. And if they did overthrow the leaf they would be weakened as well as the village which would leave the susceptible to outside villages attacking.

Uh, not exactly correct.

The Uchiha's were not cornered off into their own section of the village until AFTER Madara challenged Hashirama. And the reasonings for it being to watch over the Clan... pure speculation--we cannot truly take Tobi's word b/c he is a proven liar. The 2nd Hokage even made the Uchiha over the Police Department to help the tension between the two Clans.

And not even their own clan had more than one leader, which was Madara, so why would the Village have more than one Hokage...? Especially if everyone decided on this, the Uchiha (many of them) agreed to everything that was happening and was content. I dont understand how the Uchiha "deserved more"... they were OVER the police department, and they were allowed to be apart of the ANBU as well. No door was immediately closed to them. Their hatred eventually brought their own downfall.

I'm sure that the Sage NEVER GAVE THE OLDER SON HIS EYES. The 1st son inherited them GENETICALLY. This means the Sage had no control over who recieved his eyes/body. For all we know, if he had *** with a different woman, they could have been given the traits of the Sage equally instead of them being split. If the Sage literally handed this to them AFTER they were born, please state the manga.

The sage never gave his elder son the great eye power.
The elder son inherited the sage's great doujutsu which means he was born with the great eyes.

The younger son inherited the sage's great life force, which means he was born with it too. It was never stated he gave the power to them.

Regardless, the entire clan was oppressed because of one bad egg, even though they sided against Madara. And yes, they deserved more of a say in the policies of the village they helped found. Even if it was not through the hokage, they should've had representatives who acted as higher ups and had more power in the village.

Hmmmph.

The entire clan was NOT oppressed. If you mean oppressed by moved to a different part of the village, I dont see how this is "oppressing". If anything they were given TOO much power by being the only members of the police force to govern the actions of the villagers. Hmmph.

And WHY do you think they needed more "sayso" in the village...? First of all, they helped found the village but you are looking at this wrong. There was no "village" when they decided to stop fighting, ONLY A TREATY. There was not a village until some other Clans (The "Noble" clans in Konoha) were added to the treaties. And if this is what you mean, then ALL 4 OF THE NOBLE CLANS should have had more "sayso" in the governing of the village, not just the Senju Hokage/Elders and the Uchiha Police Department. In actuality the other Clans are the ones who seem to be somewhat "oppressed" b/c they dont have a voice in the Village like the Senju/Uchiha do. Just FYI
