Kobe is the best.
No. A better scorer: yes, he is the best in terms of scoring/ A better defender: hell no, are you serious?:flaw:... Lebron's versatility on defense allows him to guard positions 1-5, no other player can do that. Kevin Durant has ways to go to be on Lebron's defensive level. Durant even though his strength has improved since is rookie year, he still gets physically bullied by strong players and his footwork causes trouble for him to guard smaller quick players. He cannot guard every position like Lebron can. Are you implying that since Lebron isn't as good of a shooter as Durant, he is not better than him? If you are implying that you are completely wrong. It's Durant. He's longer, a better scorer and defender. Lebron is a streaky shooter, not a consistent one.
xdWhat game were you watching? Lebron and Shane Battier were rotating throughout the game guarding Melo. Melo had a big scoring game but that's what great scorers do no matter who his guarding them. But what makes a great defender is that they can prevent/slow down a great scorer from have those types of big games often. I would also like to point out that a player doesn't score all of their points just on one single player bruh. It takes effort from the defender who is guarding him and the team. You are trippin saying that Melo wouldn't drop 40+ points on Durant/OKC:sy:. And again being a better shooter doesn't mean that you are a better player, a great overall game is much more important in determining who is better, which Lebron clearly is. LMAO, so are you saying that if you have size and length you win?:flaw:. That can be a good thing to have on your team but if you don't have team defense, chemistry, teamwork, and effort from each player... you aren't winning shit even with size and length. That is what wins games and most importantly championships.Carmelo wouldn't have put 40 on Durant... And please Lebron James cannot compare to Kevin's shooting ability. That's silly. I've got news for you, length and size win in basketball. There are only 2/3 instances in which the taller team didn't win the title. MJ's bulls teams, Isiah's Pistons and the most recent piston's championship.
True, the Spurs have size and a deep bench but the Heat's starting lineup is superior to the Spurs starting lineup. But don't forget that the Heat have a solid bench too which is why I don't think the Spurs have what it takes to beat the Heat in a 7 game series.Sorry, it's really not. The heat could play the spurs, lakers or thunder. The Heat can beat the Thunder but the Lakers and Spurs are bigger inside and the Spurs have a deeper bench. I think Pop has been saving Tim Duncan all season just for the finals against the Bulls or Heat, both teams are small inside.
Lol no:|. I thought i explained that to you in the other thread, I guess i have to do it againU_U. Kobe wouldn't/couldn't of(or any other player) carry that sorry ass team throughout the season and playoffs at the age of 21-22...come on now!:|. Kobe's playing style wouldn't of complemented that team, Lebron got his teammates involved consistently which was key to their success and him putting up high scoring numbers. Like i said before in the other thread you are acting like the Cavs had a cake walk through the playoffs which is false. The Wizards even though they got swept, they played Lebron(Cavs) tough damn near every game against them. TBH you can make a strong case that The Wizards roster wise was better. Wizards season roster:Kobe Bryant could if he was in the East... come on now! The East was such a weak conference back then. They went through the Washington Wizards and New Jersey Nets to get to the Eastern Conference Finals where they actually faced some competition in the East which were the Detroit Pistons... and then they got SWEPT in the NBA Finals.
Kobe Bryant wouldn't have allowed his team to get swept on the biggest stage of them all... whether he had to put up 81 or more back then...
LeBron James is the BEST Player in the League ONLY IF you take Kobe Bryant out of the equation.
*sigh* Kobe/his team still got swept though:sy: and like i explained earlier in my post, Kobe wouldn't of gotten to the Finals with that team. And Lebron doesn't get doubled teamed? When you are a great player you are going to get double and even triple teamed man. LOL, What? You know why the Cavs showed more effort than Kobe's Lakers... It's because Lebron played better than Kobe most of the time in head to head math-ups and his leadership/playmaking skills brings out the best in his teammates performances when he is on the court.Yes, they did get swept, but that's not the finals is it? Furthermore, no one else but Kobe were doing anything. Pau was having problems mentally clearly, Bynum was frustrated, etc... Kobe was pretty much just getting double-teamed the entire time. At least the majority of those Cavs players back then would put for effort and energy which the Lakers lacked last year.
I guess LBJ is better than KB24, I'm just not seeing it. Kobe may be getting old yet he does such a great job adjusting his game with his age that it doesn't really matter. He still hits clutch shots, scores in the post, and embarrasses the younger players such as Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, etc... the power of youth seems to be overrated. LeBron went to South Beach because he needed someone who could clean up his mess when he chokes. *CoughDWadeCough*
Honestly, I have no problem with LeBron. I think he is the second best player in the NBA and will be #1 once Kobe retires. I just can't give him that title just yet...
No. The Lakers wouldn't of made it to the NBA Finals "countless of times" back then. You are really downplaying the East as if they were some bums, which they weren't. Yes the West was better than the East but it's still a difficult task to make it to the NBA Finals whether they played in the East or the West.
I agree with the bolded part 110%...
I see the case you're trying to make for LeBron there and it is legitimate, but the fact still remains, if the Lakers were in the East and Cavs were in the West, Lake Show would probably had made it to the NBA Finals countless times. Again, the only real big team then were the Detroit Pistons.
But, I'm not a big What If guy so I'll just leave that alone. And yes, LeBron is a better PASSER than Kobe no doubt. He's younger and able to do things that Kobe now at his age cannot. However, there are several things Kobe has that LeBron can't show me that he has on a consistent basis.
He isn't clutch enough for me, his leadership skills aren't on par with Kobe's. Kobe Bryant will coach the players alongside Mike Brown when he's not on the court. He see's things others do not see. And please don't let me start talking about the many times I've seen LeBron QUIT on his team during the Playoffs smh...
And then this is the sad part... Kobe Bryant is older and gets injured a hell of a lot more than LeBron does. LeBron had this elbow injury, that wasn't that serious and acted like he couldn't do anything one series against the Celtics. It was sad. Kobe plays with broken fingers, banged up knees, legs injuries and more every single season and he still gives you numbers in the Playoffs. I've seen growth from LeBron but he still has a lot of work to do in order to be considered the best in my opinion.
Lebron's versatility on defense allows him to guard positions 1-5, no other player can do that.
- FUN FACT: In game 5 the announcers gave out a statistic that when Melo was guarded by Lebron he had a low field goal percentage of 30%
*sigh*Many players throughout history can do that. Magic Johnson? Elgin Baylor? Oscar Robertson?
Oh, you want current? Shawn Marion.
Please. :sy:
Any elite player will always have his nemesis. Fun fact: Durant's average PPG is 12 ppg against Grant Hill of the Phoenix Suns. That's his lowest scoring average over any position matchup. Against Lebron? 25. Does that mean Grant Hill is a better player than Lebron?
See, never bring up those kinds of statistics because they're entirely situational.
goddamn i forgot
the weekend has come U_U
and so has PUU xd
thread might be shut down lol
Holy shit PUU, they should call you a keyboard ninja lol.
*sigh*
"Many players throughout history can do that." No, the level in which lebron defends positions 1-5 isn't common. If i didn't state in my post, i was talking about current players but i'll play around and go through the players you just listed.
Magic? hell no, versatility on offense yes, he didn't defend at the level as lebron does at each position
Baylor? same thing as Magic... not on the same level for each position
Oscar Robertson? the only one you could probably make a case for outta your list, but i don't think so. offensively yes.
Shawn Marion? Definitely not on the same level, 5's would give him huge problems
Bolded: link please, i don't doubt the PPG but i want to see the field goal percentages of Durant when that single player(not team) is guarding him. Like i said in my post a player doesn't score all of their points on a single player. And even if he scores 25 PPG when Lebron is guarding him if Durant takes alot of shots to get that number then it doesn't really mean shit.
And anyways i stated a great overall game determines who is better not just one side of the ball so i don't know why you are acting like i was implying that it only takes great defense:flaw:
You don't even know what you're talking about! xd
Magic? He played all 5 positions at one point!
Baylor? He filled in for an injured Willis Reed!
Oscar? Well I'm just guesstimating this one and relying on hearsay, but he did defend when called upon.
Marion? Not on the same level? What man, you don't watch the Mavs? You didn't watch the NBA back in 2005, 2006, 2007?
I guess you haven't heard of Tyrus Thomas then, or Boris Diaw, or Stephen Jackson, Kevin Garnett back on the wolves, Lamar Odom. Same level my arse. They're all playing in the NBA, which is more or less the same level. You'd be right if they were playing in the D-League.
I actually don't have links, but Durant was routinely shut down in games versus the Suns. The reason why the Suns lose to the Thunder is because of Westbrook and Harden, sometimes Ibaka, but never Durant.
Lebron has NEVER shut down Durant to 10 points before, that I'm sure.
You were talking about how guarding 5 positions at one point has never been done before, I called you out on it since it's obviously false.
i don't know what i'm talking about... bitch please:sy:
Magic was more of a help defender than a individual defender. he could not guard all 5 positions at the level as lebron can:flaw:
And your point is? i'm am talking about the versatility level of defending, not who he replaced:sy:
Your not really making a case for Oscar so.... yea
boi i pay attention to all of the teams in the NBA, but from what i'm seeing from you it seems you don't. Marion, he was versatile on defense but again he was not on the same level as lebron man. I've have seen lebron put players from drose to D12 on lock bruh more than once when he was guarding them.
pfft... please, your basketball intelligence is not on my level man so i don't know why you're naming players you know damn well i know.
tyrus thomas:rofl: you are reaching on that one
boris diaw same thing with tyrus
lamar odom same thing with the ones above
stephen jackson and kg... now you are speaking with some sense ,still not all 5 positions at lebrons level. try again man:sy:
the reason why the suns loses to okc is because of their piss poor defense:|
*sigh* since it seems you cannot comprhend what i was saying i'll tell you again it doesn't matter how many points durant scores solely on lebron when he is the only one guarding him, he he takes alot of shots it doesn't mean shit man.:sy:
no i didn't, you fail. btw you didn't call out shit man, your arguments are piss poor at best![]()
With reserve point guard Hudson also injured, the Timberwolves alternated between third playmaker Darrick Martin and shooting guard Fred Hoiberg at the "one", or even running Garnett himself as point forward or a real point guard. The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a 4–2 victory in the series.
