I think its very underrated as well. When the clans came together to start villages, maybe the hyuugas lived very close by and decided to join them.

its a subtle trait, not saying they are exactly the same. and the sharingan doesnt enhance their physical abilties either so thats irrelevant.

none of the doujutsu increase physical abilities besides eyesight.

byakugan allow the user to see chakra, see the chakra network, through walls, and in near 360 degrees. It also has x-ray and microscopic vision.

Byakugan does look close to Rinnegan but that would'nt clarify it. Only Sharingan can progress to Rinnegan.

3 tomes allowed him to keep up with Naruto's speed with the kyuubi chakra cloak. Cursed mark increased his power

The sharingan allow Kakashi to counter and then use the chidori cause he had the speed
