xD what you do is make your ears sensitive to vibrations (mind that its only timely or there shall be trouble dealing with extra volume all the time ._.) otherwise another method is using your general hearing and your knowledge of sound to process every little sound wave to the point you could predict an outcome.

Curse you! D: You do know what sonar is right? Send a sound wave, when it hits an object and bounces back telling you the location of the object. Send it in quick succession to figure out its movement patterns etc xD inner sonar is more effective in water(as vibrations are easily transferred when molecules are close to each other) and ineffective in earth (as everything is solid, however you could simply detect the vibrations without using a sonar) @_@ now go ahead
