Other Ultimate Element Jutsus?

There was a brief discussion about this in the middle of a thread ages ago and I thought I'd bring it up as its own topic:

So we can all pretty much agree that Amaterasu is the highest level fire jutsu there is. (As of yet, the only ways to counter it are to DODGE, cut off any limb that has been hit by it, or hope that Sasuke sucks it back up)

Theoretically, however, it would make sense that there are other "ultimate" jutsu for the other 4 elements so as to preserve the "balance" of elemental advantages.

In other words, there could exist a water jutsu powerful enough to counter Amaterasu head on. That being said, while there have been many powerful water jutsus shown in the manga, none have been officially deemed as the "highest level" of water techniques.

This holds true for the other elements as well. We have Rasenshuriken, Shark Bullet, and Black Lightning. (Couldn't think of a good earth one)

I am not, however, suggesting that any of the other "ultimate" elemental techniques have already been shown in the manga (although they could have, especially the Black Lightning) - I am just suggesting that they could actually exist.

All that being said, one could also say that a chakra cloak would be enough to ward off Amaterasu as well - but that is a completely different topic entirely (and actually the topic of the thread that this discussion was based on xd)

Anyhow, time will tell (or rather, Kishi will tell).

Thoughts? Does this make sense? Am I forgetting something important?

Also a very powerful fire technique by Kakuzu - though I'd say on a lower level than Amaterasu

Actually I was refering to Darui's black lightning that he got from the previous Raikage.

black lightning is the tehnique that the third raikage passed on to Darui

On the other hand when sasuke fought naruto at the valley of the end,and in the last act when they "Raidorid"xd...that was the first and last time if i recall corectly when i saw sasuke's chidori made out of black lightning

Yeah I'm not really sure what to make of Sasuke's black-ish chidori. We know it was an effect due to the curse mark though which seemed to make everything "dark", so to speak.

I guess people could argue that it is similar to Darui's lightning but in my personal opinion they're not the same.

Hmmm ... I suppose you could say that.

Though one would think that the ultimate jutsu for any element would match the speed of the ultimate jutsu from another element - otherwise you wouldn't be able to counter in time!

In other words, Amaterasu does not a lot of preparation, Kirin takes a HELL of a lot of preparation.

... unless of course you suggest that there is a more powerful fire technique beyond Amaterasu that takes considerably more time to prepare ...

Figured someone would say this. Amaterasu is a Fire Release jutsu that is cast using an eye technique as opposed to hand signs.

In any case, this thread is about whether jutsu exist to counter it (besides sealing, like Jiraiya did and besides teleporting, like Minato might be able to)

I don't think we have seen a ninjitsu that powerful as of yet
In my opinion this would be the pinnacle of the nature jitsus

fire- burns anything (complete control over energy)
water- ability to "control" any lifeforms and completely control/re-combine the amazingly weird substance water (complete control all forms of life and space,provided that space has water)
Earth- Combine/ recombine any solid elements to make any compound (nukes)
lighting- controls electrons/magnetism (completely control the electronic spectrum)
wind- rips matter apart (rearrange matter)

Amaterasu is a Fire Release. End of story. Yes, I agree it is some sort of "godly" or "otherworldly" fire and does not originate from the chakra of the user. But, again, you're missing the point of the thread -> I am asking about other jutsu's on the same level as Amaterasu.
