Its such a pain! The internet on my laptop keeps crashing and i've got know idea why. Im practically sitting right near our wireless modem and the signal on my laptop says 'excellent' but quite often, while im loading a web page, the page never loads and a msg pops up saying 'connection got reset'. Its obviously not my modem because my android, my parent's computers and etc seem to connect just fine. Just my damn laptop! this problem only started occuring about 3 days ago. Someone...PLEASE HELP ME!!! Im running a 32-bit windows xp. Browser-firefox.

Well try checking the network driver(go to the device manager).....may be you got problem with the driver....Uninstall then re install it...sometimes updating the driver may work as well.....If the problem is not fixed then try to reset the internet connection in your laptop....

No I don't think it's a virus, I had a similar problem, only I kept getting weird errors, and I think if I remember correct I've tried these steps:

1. Cleaned my cache.
2. Scanned for AntiVirus using AVG.
3. called my ISP , lol they didn't help at all >_>
4. I shut of the wi-fi router and the modem for like 2 hours ( fixed it for a bit then it came back ) .
5. I got my router's CD and Manually reset it, and then actually it fixed it for me.

**These are the steps I did, hopefully some might help you, if not then I'm really sorry :p

alright i'll try that. i already tried resetting the internet connection on my laptop but that didnt work so i guess i'll try the network driver

Maybe some one is using your internet and sucking its full speed, maybe thats why it crashed?

maybe your driver version is old or broken?
i dont think its because someone else is using it. if thats the case, my internet would be laggy;not crashy. but thanks for the try :)

thanks but im pretty sure its not my router/modem because everyones laptop/pc works fine. my phone is connected to the internet through it and has never crashed. im pretty positive that the problem is in my computer :(

get your router's IP address. (number.number.number.number)

When the Internet crashes, enter it in your browser and see if you're still connected to the router. You want to be sure where the internet breaks.

you might have a dhcp server malfunction. if you reset the dhcp client that might work. the dhcp assigns and receives the ip adresses from the names you type in, sites that work might be because they are still saved in your cache if you can reset your dhcp you should be able to solve your problem
