I?m not sure if this has ever been presented before, but I just noticed this last week, and after finally finding time to do this, here it is (pictures below as attachments):
We all know that the anime has a lot of inconsistencies with the manga. A fine example would be in manga fillers which as we all know add to the storyline so as not to catch up with the present status in the manga.
Recently, in celebration of the nine years of Naruto in existence, issue number 420 presented us with a poster featuring the nine jinchuurikis of the legendary tailed beasts.
Right now in the manga, the Akatsuki are still to collect the beasts from the eighth (as Sasuke messed up big time) and the ninth tails.
As shown in the manga, the one-tail (Gaara) was caught by Deidara and Sasori, the two-tails (Yugito) by Hidan and Kakuzu. The four-tails (an old man) by the pair of Itachi and Kisame.
All of the aforementioned featured human hosts for the beasts except for the three-tails, captured by the new pair of Deidara and Tobi. And here I stumbled across a big inconsistency, not from the animators but from Kishi himself (as I assume the poster was done by Kishi himself).
In issue number 317, we were first shown a picture of the water-based three-tail.
In the poster (assumably done by Kishi) on issue number 420, the three-tail was shown as a male kid,
but in issue number 318, Deidara clearly stated that the three-tail had no host/jinchuuriki.
Thinking about it, we may expect to see more fillers after the three-tail arc (trailer shown in episode 86-87). This would be a great opportunity for the animators to further enhance the story by showing the capture of each of the jinchuurikis as the poster has already laid the overall looks of the remaining five to seven-tails jinchuurikis, all of which were not featured at all in the manga.
Talk about inconsistency, huh?
P.S. The capture of the three-tails was done before the face-off of Asuma?s team against the pair of Hidan and Kakuzu.
