true. Orochimaru's was by far the worst, a great villian cast aside. so Orochimaru had been searching for the Totsuka sword for ages, and then only recognised it after he was stabbed?
And then Naruto forgot all about Pain's techniques (that was only the biggest battle of his life mind you). Tbh this is the smallest of the trolls kishi has pulled with Itachi. He got pretty much skewered (although it might be in a genjutsu)
Kishi devaluing characters to make others look good is his biggest flaw. He's doing it with Naruto all the time, he did it with Sakura a few chapters after she had her best fight, he's done it with Kakashi ever since we were shown that he can use Kamui offensively. Not to mention Lee, that insane speed he had in part 1 just disappeared.

Reading too much into it? Why make Itachi protect Sasuke when Sasuke could clearly do it himself since he can also use susanoo? There really isn't a reason other then downgrading others to make Itachi look like a Mary Sue, which is what he seems like in this fight.

Yeah I get what you're saying but does it really make a difference whether it was Itachi or Sasuke's Susanoo? It does improve Itachi's image but I think he made up for it by showing Itachi getting impaled straight after.

It's not considered downgrading if Itachi is stronger than those other ones. Besides, he protected Sasuke as any older sibling would do. Now I''m starting to believe Kishi is making Sasuke look so weak so that he can reveal his new jutsu during the Naruto fight.

I agree especially with that time with Naruto, bee and nagato I was so pissed at how they had to get saved just to make itachi look good and that made kabuto look like a dumbass because while he was dealing with Naruto and bee it looked like he completely forgot about itachi U_U

I worry when my little brother falls down, even though he's usually fine. Maybe it's the same thing as this, only on a bigger scale. Plus, Itachi is in Edo form. He has less to lose if he takes a hit than if Sasuke does. Just a basic older bro protecting a little bro.
