Narrator : "After many days of traveling from the city of Denerim, Sir Duncan and Akitos have arrived before the frost-back mountains, in which the city of Orzammar lies in dormant. The dwarves are a valuable race to have apart of the Grey Wardens, seeing that they fight a constant war against the dark spawn that flood the deep roads. Duncan and Akitos have made their way to Orzammar, with hopes of recruiting one of these noble and skilled warriors."
Duncan : "The frost-back mountains.. Its been some time since I was last here. And Orzammar, such a glorious city. I'm sure you'll be quite impressed."
*Duncan said as he walked up the mountain trail toward the main gates that lead into Orzammar*
"Tsk.. bloody dwarves.. Nothing but a lot of drunken, violent beasts..."
*Akitos said as he shook his head slightly*
Duncan : "I must ask that you hold your tongue when we are on their land.. I will not disrespect your own thoughts, but I ask that you keep them to yourself, at least until we leave their city."
*Duncan said as he approached the gate-keeper*
Dwarven Gate-Keeper : "What purpose do you have here human? And I see you have an elf with you..."
*Akitos would snarl at the gate keeper*
"What in ancestors name is that supposed to mean, Dwarf!"
*He shouted approaching the Dwarf, the gate keeper setting his hand upon his weapon*
*Duncan would hold his arm out, stopping Akitos as he smiled faintly*
Duncan : "Please.. do not start unnecessary violence.."
*Duncan asked as he turned to the gate keeper, nodding slightly as the keeper took his hand from his weapon*
Dwarven Gate-Keeper : "No matter.. you do not look like ordinary travelers.. may I ask why you wish entry into Orzammar?"
Duncan : "I am Duncan of the Grey Wardens, my friend here is Akitos, soon to be a Grey Warden as well. I wish to enter Orzammar, for I seek a promising recruit for my order."
*The gate keeper simply sighed*
Dwarven Gate-Keeper : "Why doesn't that surprise me... Well, as always, Grey Wardens have the right to enter Orzammar as they will, but I warn you.. darkspawn activity has been twice as troublesome.. We've lost many of our finest warriors, I cannot promise that you will find what you are looking for Warden.."
*He said as he turned to the gate, signaling the men to open it as it began to slowly slide open*
Duncan : "Thank you for the information. Akitos, lets go."
*Duncan said, entering through the gates, Akitos following behind him as the gates closed behind them*
*Akitos simply looked around in slight awe, looking down slightly*
"As troublesome as the dwarves are.. they do indeed have a fine city..."
*Duncan chuckled slightly*
Duncan : "Indeed they do.. Dwarves are the finest crafts-folk. You won't find stronger craft anywhere else."
*Duncan said as he made his way toward the proving arena, Akitos simply following a foot or so behind him, still looking around*
*Duncan would enter into the proving hall, Akitos still following behind him. Duncan would approach the proving master, smiling*
Duncan : "Hello again, old friend."
*The proving master would turn toward Duncan, looking shocked then smiling slightly*
Proving Master : "Duncan! Old friend, what brings you back to Orzammar after such a long time?"
*He asked after shaking Duncan's hand*
Duncan : "To be honest, that is why I am here. I wish to request a proving be held, and the gathering of as many of your finest warriors to partake as well."
Proving Master : "A proving, filled with our finest..? Of course.. but.. may I ask why?"
*He asked, looking up at Duncan*
Duncan : "I am seeking to recruit one of your folk, the darkspawn have begun to gather on the surface, and are doing so rapidly. I fear that a blight is nearing, and I need as many skilled warriors as I can find, and recruit them into the Grey Wardens. The blight demands such, sadly.."
*The proving master looked down slightly, running his hands across his face*
Proving Master : "A blight aye..? That is indeed troubling news, old friend.. I suppose I better make quick hast and gather your men. It will be at least a day's time before I can officially gather our finest. If you have any business in the city, or if you haven't gone to see King Endrin, I suggest doing so now. He will be glad to see you again, Duncan."
*He suggested*
Duncan : "I shall do that, thank you, old friend."
*Duncan said as he smiled, bowing slightly as he turned around and exited the proving hall, making his way toward the diamond quarter*
"Great.. so now we get to visit bloody nobles?"
*Akitos grumbled, sighing slightly in frustration*
Duncan : "I am aware that you are no fan of dwarves, but I ask that you lower your voice, and keep your thoughts to yourself.. the dwarves are fine folk, and I wish no trouble while we are guests within their halls."
*Duncan said, approaching the gates of the diamond quarter, pushing one open and walking through, closing it as Akitos entered*
"Sorry Duncan.."
*Akitos mumbled, looking around the quarter at all of the noble folk standing about, making idle chatter and browsing the wares of fine silks and beverages*
*Duncan approached the main diamond throne chamber, entering inside as Akitos followed behind him. The guards inside closed the door behind them, Duncan continued down the path toward the throne room as he pushed to door open, walking in and approaching the throne in which Endrin Aeducan, current king of Orzammar sat upon his throne, Duncan bowned as he smiled before the throne~
Duncan : "It is good to see you in good health, King Aeducan."
*Endrin would look with slightly wide eyes at Duncan, smiling then suddenly laughing as he stood from the throne approaching Duncan*
Endrin : "By the ancestors! Its really you Duncan! Good to see you again my old friend!"
*Endrin said through his laughs as he approached Duncan, shaking his hand*
*Duncan chuckled as he shook Endrin's hand as well, nodding in agreement*
Duncan : "Indeed it has, my friend.. I trust that things have been well for you?"
Endrin : "That depends on what case you speak of.. Politically or personally?"
*Endrin stated with a slight laugh, shaking his head*
Duncan : "In general, if you would."
*Duncan said after chuckling slightly*
Endrin : "In general? All has been rather mellow. No one dares challenge me for the throne, there have been few complaints, mostly about utter nonsense of, how this lord owes the other a sovereign or two, or this one looked at me funny. BAH! Its all rubbish.."
*Endrin said as he threw his arms up slightly to signify his frustration on the matter*
Duncan " "And what of the darkspawn...? I have heard rumors that some of your best men have been lost to their corruption. Are they pushing against your defenses?"
*Duncan asked*
Endrin : "Ah, yes, the darkspawn.."
*Endrin sighed*
Endrin : "Aye.. the darkspawn have indeed been a rather troublesome problem these past few months... I fear that our numbers have been dropping rapidly.. some of our finest have fallen pray to the beasts.. and only more and more are dying. I fear that we will soon run out of the means to fight them off..."
*Endrin stated, sitting upon his throne again as he leaned to the side, resting his cheek against his fist as he balanced his arm upon the armrest of his throne*
Duncan " "Well, since I am in town.. would you like me to push them back for you? At least as best I can. It is my job as a Grey Warden, after all."
*Endrin would blink then smile*
Endrin : "As much as I hate to ask it of an old friend, and an honored guest.. Please, by all means.. Do me this grand favor, and perform some grey wardening. I assure you, I will have Orzammar's finest lined up for you to pick out for your recruiting when you return, as reward."
Duncan : "Agreed. I am off to the deep roads, then. I will return once I can advance no further."
*Duncan said as he bowed, exiting the throne as Akitos followed behind him*
"Sounds like fun.. my first encounter with darkspawn.."
*Akitos mumbled, slightly worried*
Duncan : "Do not worry, they are indeed tough, but they are not invincible against one's blade. Skewer them with your sword, and they will go down like any other."
*Akitos simply nodded slightly, still worried*
*Duncan and Akitos had now approached the blockade party that stood guard between the deep road's entrance and Orzammar, Duncan would approach the captain*
Guard-Captain : "I take it you are the grey wardens King Aeducan informed us about. You may pass, but be careful out there.."
*The guard warned as he stepped aside, Duncan smiling as he nodded in gratitude and walked passed, Akitos following behind. They now stood at the entrance of the deep roads*
Duncan : "Are you prepared, Akitos?"
*Duncan asked, looking toward Akitos*
"As ready as I'll be getting before we enter.."
*Akitos slightly mumbled, drawing his blade*
Duncan : "Then let us go. And best of luck to the both of us."
*Duncan stated, advancing toward the entrance gates*
