From one perspective Zabuza was supposedly very strong. Then again... he was taken down by three Genin.

I would say Deidara, but if Zabuza lived up to legend it may have been a pretty close fight.

In his defense he was up against the "most gifted" gennin, a jinchuriki, and another jonin. So I can kind of understand his loss. I don't think it would be quite as easy as everyone else says, but Deidara would win. He can fly above the mist and have his bombs track Zabuzas location, or just bomb the area. Long range>short range in most cases.

Deidara's a bad matchup for zabuza. Being able to take to the skies makes hidden mist near worthles, and completely screws up his killing style.

I can see Zabuza actually winning this. Hidden mist technique to hide, while Deidara wastes his clay, then Assasinating him when he lands. No time to suicide himself either.

Deidara isnt some idiot who would waste his clay on enemy he cant see. And why would he land? Hes relying on his aerial advantage after all. If he wasnt wasnt able to see Zabuza, he would just use C4 and the battle would be over.
