A was able to toss Jugo across the room and sent him crashing through the ceiling. You guys honestly think Shikamaru would stand a chance? You guys are crazy

Good match up. I think Shikamaru would have the tactical edge and has his chances. My issue though is that A outclasses him in terms of speed and power. So one hit from A and Shikamaru would be in a tough spot.

When you get to A's level? Yes, it is.
It doesn't matter how much Shikamaru plans. He could have a month to plan the battle out but it still wouldn't make a difference.
A staggers Shikamaru in strength, speed, agility, endurance, chakra intensity, arsenal of techniques, etc.
None of Shikamaru's Shadow techniques would work on A. Why? Because you'd need to catch him first. If by some divine miracle Shikamaru was able to catch A in his Lightning Armor it wouldn't even do anything. It's a fact that the Nara Clan's shadow techniques can be overpowered by brute force. It wouldn't even slow down A for Shikamaru to do anything.
Honestly, stop trolling. Shikamaru is smart, but when you get to A's level of physical prowess Shikamaru's intelligence does nothing in a fight to the death.

You guys don't know what you are talking about.If Shikamaru has a week to plan against a character,it means that he has enough knowledge of him to make one...
If Shikamaru catches A with his shadow jutsu he would probably hurt himself.Then we have A hurting himself,destroying his armor too.Shikamaru would get damaged by this,but Raikage takes the brunt.I don't know how he would catch him,that's why he has time to think about it and take advantages and disadvantages into account.
With knowledge Shikamaru only need a couple of minutes to make a plan.

-A and Shikamaru are facing each other on the field.
-A mocks him saying "I can't believe someone would put me up against a puny runt like you."
-Shikamaru gives a smile and says, "Yeah and I can't believe I chose to agree to this fight."
-A rushes towards Shikamaru, smashing him with a Lariat, as this happened a chakra blade fell out of Shikimaru's pocket, shredded log filled the the air around A as he relised that it was a substitution.
-Suddenly A's facial expression changes to amazment.
-Shikimaru appeared behind him about 12 feet away and said "Shadow Possession Shuriken Jutsu"
-A, in amazement said "Impossible, theres no way!" he then thought to himself, "Outsmarted by a brat, I cant beleive it."
-But a smiled "What now, theres no way you can even harm me." A said.
-Shikimaru smiled as he created a shadow clone, clone 1 and real Shikimaru both made a few handsigns and preformed a jutsu.
-Shikimaru preformed the Shadow Sewing Technique while his clone preformed the Shadow–Neck Binding Technique.
-Shikimaru and his clone puncutered and strangled A, a gruesome death indeed.

A... now shikamaru with a week to plan will produce some elaborate strategies but i believe A's strength and speed while clad in lightning release armor would have shikamaru falling to his knees. Dont get me wrong shikamaru is not weak though.

being nagato didnt save nagato from hanzo's explosive tags. i think shika wins if he catches A off guard with them. tags were the cornerstone of his battle plan vs hidan and kakuzu after all.

So you're suggesting Shikamaru would stand a sliver of a chance against A with a week of planning? Then answer me one thing and I'll at least consider your proposal:
-How would Shikamaru catch A in his Lightning Armor which brings him on par with the speed of the Yellow Flash?
Even the most brilliant person cannot solve every single problem or situation that comes there way. There are times when you can prevail with your smarts, and other times when it's simply not possible.
Shikamaru is not in A's league. It doesn't matter what genius strategy he comes up with. He lacks the physical strength needed to carry out whatever plan he thinks up. Not even Shikaku can handle A and it's a fact that he's just as smart as, if not smarter, than his son.

A is an idiot and with shikamaru given a week to prepare ive no doubt that even if A is fast, shikamaru can and will be able to catch him with his shadows. Doubt his shadows would last long but also affect A in his clouded raiton armour.
Shikamaru hasnt shown us any attack which leads be to believe he can cause A damage if he does catch him with his shadows which i believe he can. But in the end A would **** him up
