650,000 Copies of One Piece: Pirate Warriors Shipped for Launch

Japanese sales figures just came out for the period of February 20 to 26 and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations has sold over 65,000 copies in it’s first week, the most ever for a Storm game! Those numbers are impressive, but they are nothing compared to what One Piece: Pirate Warriors is gearing up for.

Namco Bandai Games Japan, today, has announced they have shipped a gigantic 650,000 copies of One Piece: Pirate Warriors for the March 1st launch! Yes, 650,000 copies just for their first shipment! That is the most ever for any of the 32 One Piece games released to date.

We wonder how well Pirate Warriors will actually sell, but if these shipment figures are any indication, Namco Bandai is prepared for a home run!

It will cover One Piece Part 1 as well as some of the story contents of the One Piece timeskip. The game was developed by Omega Force and published by Namco Bandai Games and Tecmo Koei in Japan on March 1, 2012. A European and North American release are possible based on trademark filings by Namco Bandai, but no official word has been released.
