No. Lee was so fast Gaara's sand couldn't follow as I remember. Gaara's sand could follow Sasuke easy.

it's true lee has awesome speed but remember in part 1 sasukes speed = lees speed but sasuke couldn't keep up with itachi so what lee going to do with arrow or amaterasu?

He didn't copy Lee's speed. He copied his taijutsu. You can't copy speed that's just ridiculous XD. Kakashi had him train in speed, I know because I'm a Sasuke fanboy.

In part 1 Sasuke was as fast as lee without his weights on, as stated in the Chuunin exams final stage, where Gaara was thinking how it was just like when he fought Lee in the prelims. Lee is fast and strong, but the Raikage is pretty much a kage version of Gai. He's stronger, faster, [and reacts faster thanks to lightning armor (I think)]. As stated before, A is the fastest ninja alive. So it kind of means that Lee's slower than him or he wouldn't be the fastest wouldn't he?

Nah, Naruto with Kyuubi''s power is faster , first time he use it people thought it was a teleport justsu. Whereas Lee's speed can still be compared to Sasuke when there were at the Chunin exam Sasuke needs the same speed as Lee to do the taijutsu he copied earlier.
