Why did such powerful missing nin join akatsuki?

Pain, konan, and Zetsu, Tobi were basically founders obviously

Itachi joined to keep track tobi/madara and aid him since he helped him whipe out the clan

kakuza joined due to the fact that Akatsuki will net him lots of riches.

Hidan joined cause he is a serial murderer and had no other place to go so he tagged along to kill more and Akatsuki needed his abilities

Orochimaru joined Akatsuki so he could get close to itachi and steal his body aswell as conduct his experiments

Sasori joined due to becoming an outcast and had no other place to go.

deidara lost a bet lol but I also think he joined out of admiration/hate for itachi beating him.


In the end though its obvious Tobi/Madara lied to everyone Akatsuki starting to sound like America

Obviously Tobi was very adept at manipulating shinobi into working for him. He obviously convinced Pein into believing in his version of controlling the world and concept of peace through pain. I can understand Itachi needed some place to be since the uchiha massacre and assuming Tobi helped him, he obliged by following him, but the thing is nobody knew who was running the organization really and Tobi/madara had never met the other shinobi before. They knew nothing about Pein either.

Only Pein, Konan, Tobi, Zetsu, and itachi actually had any real knowledge and motivation in Akatsuki. Oro might have had his reasons.

For all the world, I cannot understand the motivations of other members. I cannot imagine why Hidan, Kisame, Sasori, Deidara, and Kukuzu would join the organization even if it promised them protection and money, since they could have had them on their own. Why would they simply catch tailed beasts at such risk for the organization with themselves having no control over them? Kukuzu was intrested in money, but he could have more efficiently have been hunting down bounties without the help of Akatsuki.

Reasons for joining Akatsuki

Nagato + Konan = Founded Akatsuki to fight against oppression in Amegakure
Tobi = Moons eye plan
Zetsu = unknown why he helps Tobi, but he joined for his sake
Itachi = Most likely to keep Konoha safe by spying on Akatsuki
Hidan = He just liked to kill people, and what better way to do it
Kakuzu = Bounty hunter, easier to collect bounties as part of Akatsuki
Sasori = Wanted to become as powerful as possible, hated everyone
Deidara = Was forced into Akatsuki after being challenged and beat by Itachi
Kisame = He didn't really have a place in the world, after being manipulated by Tobi through his control over the 4th Mizukage he didn't recognise whether he was on the side of good or evil anymore and just wanted guidance and so joined Akatsuki and became Tobi's closest confident, and knows Tobi's true identity.

the only ppl who know the true leader of akatsuki is nagato konan orochimaru zetsu and itachi, the rest think nagato its as the leader,

the rest join for various reason, just like deidara who join because he want to fight powerful opponent, kakuzu for money.

Kisame also knows as well who the true leader is.

I think that everybody in the akatsuki wanted peace except hidan maybe... he just loves fighting. The organization was started by Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan. Yahiko became the leader and lead the organization to fight poverty and because Yahiko wanted to become, "god" so that he could create peace, essentially. But then Yahiko died and so nagato took over Yahiko's ideals and became "god" with the 6 paths of pain. Many were brought into the organization just so that Nagato could achieve his goal of creating peace through fear and pain. Of course, at some point.... it was told that "tobi" is the leader.... I don't know how though. But ya, this is the whole point of akaksuki and the reason for the members!

I can tell you that everything Itachi did was to protect Konoha and his little brother. And I mean everything - from the starting point(The Uchiha Massacre) through the middle point(joining Akatsuki) to the ending point(his death). Even if Madara was Itachi's sensei, Itachi still kept his beliefs and so on(protecting Konoha). Madara never influenced him - he just made him stronger.

No. Nagato, Yahiko and Konan formed Akatsuki in order to fight Hanzo. Supposedly later on, after Jiraiya left them and Yahiko died, Tobi/Madara met Konan and Nagato. You know the story henceforth.
