Naruto's smarts are underrated

Doesn't anyone else agree, I mean with practically every person the guy fights... He finds a way to outsmart/ trick them... Namely, it's usually with his shadow clones or something straight forward... But i mean digging a tunnel underneath Neji in the chuunin exams?? Neji was considered a genius and a child prodigy... and Naruto outsmarted him... there are tons of other example and you all know it too ... Whatever I'm sick of this craaaapppp

I agree, his fight with pain, using his clones to hold him up. His biggest improvement was when he fought Kakazu. He started timing his clones extremely well. I think he's smarter than what most people give him credit for. Just because he's a hot head doesn't mean he's an idiot.

yes i agree they all say that naruto is stupid to become hokage well i think he is a genius he learn in just 3 or 4 weeks but the fourth hokage created in 3 years and don't forget that naruto created futon rasen shirken in just half a years and he always outsmart any opponent for example against Zabuza Kiba Neji Kakuzu Pain and finally Tobi

his on the spot strategies arnt necessarily shikamaru level but he definately is a very clever person when it comes to tactics excluding the nara clan although he may only use shadow clones for his plans he is way up there in my opinion.
considering when he was only 13 he out smarted zabuza one of the 7 swordsmen who is a s class ninja i mean not many ninja are capable of that, let alone at his age.

Naruto is not a strategist true that but in a particular fight he is not late to come up with the opponents weakness, and no matter how straightforward he thinks, comes up with a way to surprise the enemy. I totally agree with you.

actually if you look back at in naruto the original he did make a plan for a combo with sasuke and learned how to use rasangan early with aid of clones he shown to be smart as he uses clones which give expreince to him when they release plus kakuzu fight learned how to use clone effeciently naruto vs pain fight once again learned perfect sage mode and even did not need to use clones for a good part of the battle only to stave off the summons and to make rasenshuriken plus the smoke bomb stragt however the crown goes to his ability to change the clones into the enviroment then ambush deva path

I think what epitomized his smarts in the pain fight was when he gathered up natural energy to turn the chakra absorbing pain into frog statue

If I have to compare him to Sasuke(which I really don't want to do for certain reasons but I have to since they are rivals) then he isn't that smart in battle. He does always find a way to trick his opponents though. Sasuke on the other hand just goes from plan A to plan B. He tricked Danzo into revealing his secret on Izanagi which was smart. One thing that gives me mixed feelings about Naruto is his battle with Edo Nagato. It's just a shame that he could be that stupid.

Yes, but that was Naruto's first fight with an edo.... the idea of fighting a friend may have threw Naruto off his game, no way to say for sure... plot no jutsu...
