First of all, I was absolutely against the possibility of the final villains being the Quincy. I mean, after a powerhouse like Aizen how could any Quincy be an even greater threat? Not only for Ichigo and the Gotei 13, but for Squad 0 aka The Royal Guard. It just sounds ridiculous, right?
Well after reading this week's Bleach I'll admit I was wrong and that it does indeed look like the Quincy will be backing a comeback.
As for how they could be a threat, I do have a small theory:
Back in Soul Society, during Ishida vs Mayuri, Ishida was able to break apart the environment because everything that's spirit-based (including Soul Society) is composed of spirit particles, or reishi. Ishida broke them down and used them to fuel his own power. I'm thinking that maybe the other Quincy (who ever the hell they are) have found some way to cannibalize Hollows by killing them, then taking in or absorbing their spirit particles making them stronger. That's the first thought I had when I read the first few pages because they seem to be killing high amounts of Hollows left and right. There must be a reason. This could potential give them the chance to grow in strength and actually be a worthy threat for the Gotei 13 and even the Royal Guard. They'd be offsetting the balance of souls while at the same time having access to, in theory, an unlimited source of power.
This also would serve another purpose. They'd not only be getting stronger but at the same time disrupting Soul Society, which in turn would, eventually, affect the King's Realm calling for the Royal Guard to step in and reestablish the balance
It'd also finally allow for Ishida, being a Quincy himself, to get back on Ichigo and the Gotei 13's level. He's been in the shadows way too long
What do you guys think? Plausible? Impossible? Am I dreaming?
