So good news. McDonalds is no longer putting mystery slime #324 in your burgers. The bad news is all the rest of it is A-OK.

pretty gross, but I pretty much lived off mcdonalds for several years, and im plenty healthy-ish. it fills my stomach, and hasnt killed me yet, (but has gave me food poisoning once or twice) these days I only eat mcdonalds on occasion, and only eat the premium chicken sandwich's when i do. If I spent all my time worrying about what was and wasnt healthy and based my choices upon it, I would have to live in a padded room eating a very very limited diet. my best theory on things like that, what you dont know wont hurt you.

(i still wont eat kfc though, used to do commercial pressure washing in restaurant kitchens cleaning the exhaust vents, never once have a seen a kfc that actually gets cleaned at night, and we did every kfc in the state for several years strait, the only one that was ever clean was because the owner got insulted at one of them when we told him how gross the place was, and it looked super clean the next time we came, like he had just had it cleaned right before we got there, not like he kept it cleaned.)

cool thread anyways though, a lot of people would like to know what it is that they are eating.

I haven't eaten at McD/BurgerKing/TacoBell for so long, I don't remember since when. If I buy a burger it is usually at In -N- Out. I'd rather make them at home. I've seen a picture of "chicken" nuggets before they get formed. It looks like pink bubble gum. Gross.

Wow you are so ill-informed. I am not talking about becoming a vegan but only eating food that is edible. There are people out there with 20 yr old happy meals that still look like they did when they were bought. No FOOD can survive that long without bacteria or mold eating it. There is no food that can survive for 20 years without being devoured by some bacteria, mold, or fungus.

Just don't eat food with MSG, Aspartine, spartimine, and don't eat fatty foods. Pay more than $1 to get some real food that is actually digestible and has nutrition in it. Subway is a great place to eat if you can't eat at home.

I have to pay a few bucks for eating at the places I eat but at least I get EDIBLE FOOD instead of something that can survive for years without decay, even mold and bacteria won't touch it.

& don't be so naive if this slime was only used by McDonalds. If you read more about this, it is very likely the same is being done to meats at your local supermarkets.

Im not ill informed, I know how bad the stuff is, its just that I dont care, I eat it and it hasnt harmed me yet. Ive been eating mcdonalds for 20 years and im still nice and healthy and I am average weight. When I eat mcdonalds now which is rare, I only buy the premium chicken, which im sure isnt that much better for me, but tastes better than the other stuff. my Cousin is a massive hypochondriac and has shown me studies that prove almost every food product that exists to be unhealthy in some way is what I was trying to say pretty much, but I told her the same thing, I dont care. I eat what tastes good to me, and if its legal to be sold, then ill eat it as long as i enjoy it. and if it messes me up, ill sue the people who sold it to me and still eat it again afterwards. I would rather go through my life enjoying what I eat than worrying if its going to kill me. I eat subway all the time, I eat homecooked meals for 95% of my food, doesnt mean I dont like going out and stuffing myself with 6 cheeseburgers and 10 pounds of pork fried rice every once in a while.

that and about your video, I refuse to take health advice from a 400 pound woman, sorry. Ill guarantee im 3 times as healthy as she could ever be.

I worked at the local supermarket, kroger to be exact. It is not in there, ground beef might have some old unrefrigerated meat that would make you puke if you smelled it, but it is 100% real. That is why I only buy ground chuck and above. Anything below and it reminds me of the meat that was sitting out for 8 hours non-refrigerated, it smelled aweful, was mostly fat, and was grey. I had to grind it up to mix with the ground beef. They process the best meats first and throw in all the old/scrap with ground beef (sometimes they throw ground sirloin past the sell date in there :D).

Ground beef by itself isn't bad, but they throw in scrap and old meat as filler to make more money. That is why sometimes ground beef goes bad quicker than other times. It is going bad quicker because they are putting old meat in there and it has a large bacterial culture to start with. Cook it quickly before it goes bad <_<;;. Ground Chuck, round, sirloin doesn't have that problem (At least not at kroger).

Sadly, I cannot afford to buy "all natural"-ly feed meats & all organically grown produce. But, I try to avoid lab created food and chemichals, where possible.
Yeah I cannot either. Just try to make sure what you are eating is actually FOOD and not something that could outlast cockroaches. Or that is less healthy than eating a cockroach.

Chicken is the realest thing there. It is mostly real chicken, just don't eat chicken nuggets. Every food product nowadays does have something wrong with it due to herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides. Ever wonder why rates of just about every health problem have been skyrocketing? No need to try and add anything ontop of all of that, they are bad enough by themselves.

<_< You really don't care about your quality of life do you? Well I intend to live long and I don't want to be a crippled old man unable to do anything. I want to be a crazy old man hunting down kids that step on my lawn and shooting them with paintballs!!! But yeah, I enjoy the food I eat. Especially my sweet potatoes... Those sweet potatoes are good enough to kill a Jedi for.

Well if you eat homecooked food most of the time then you really don't need to worry too much then. Your body is able to process a certain amount of shit without much problems. The problem occurs when 50% or 75% of your food is fast food and not the healthy kind. Although if you really want 6 burgers I suggest you buy the meat at a supermarket as it will be cheaper and tastier for you :p.

a lot of foods people think are good for them aren't. rice, milk, potatoes, crackers, yogurt, granola, anything that is "reduced fat", anything made with soy, almost any type of juice, canned baked beans, pasta, bagels, diet soda, and many other things have all been proven to be bad for you in some way or another. well cooked clean meat is about the only thing that exists that can be good for you to eat. and I have seen just as many studies proving a lot of varieties of "junk food" to be actually very good for you. Im not saying your wrong, mcdonalds is by no means healthy, but im just saying if you only want to eat things that truly are "good" for you, do some research, because the term healthy is way over used, in a lot of places it shouldnt be. and whether or not its good for me, I dont have a weight problem to worry about, so ill eat whatever the hell I feel like eating and if it kills me, then thats when I was meant to die.

I am the type that worries more about being happy now than later, I have broken so many bones and had so many injuries that when im that age ill be in so much pain all the time that what I ate in my 20's wont matter at all. as it is i can barely walk on cold damp days and im only 22. ive broken both ankle, my left foot got every single bone in it crushed when i was ten. ive shattered my left wrist in several places, broken my upper and lower left leg, blown out a knee, torn tendons several times, sprained every joint I have, broke my tailbone, had a collapsed sinus, broken my hand, broken 3 fingers, broken 4 toes, had my neck sprained out of alignment, thrown out my back, dislocated my shoulder, dislocated my hip, had about 300 stitches, torn too many muscles to count, had my elbow bent backwards, had my eye socket fractured, had my jaw fractured, and cut a finger off. and quite a few other things not worth mentioning. my point is, when im old, ill have a lot bigger concerns.

-_-;; Really? Yogurt bad for you? I could cite hundreds of studys showing it is VERY good for you, but I don't have the time so go use google scholar. Yogurt that uses Aspartame or Spartimine is bad for you though.

Potatoes are not good in large quantities, they are pretty pro-inflammatory and can cause problems if eaten in large quantity over a long period of time. However in moderation they are good for you :D

Unless you are lactose intolerant milk is good for you, so long as you don't get the kind with anti-biotics and growth hormones.

Rice is used as a source of carbs/energy. Somehow I don't think that they are bad for you considering the shape of Asians VS Americans.

Depends on what type of crackers.

Diet Soda - Actually it causes weight gain by slowing your metabolism. It is just a marketing gimmic, also people tend to drink MORE diet soda because they think they can -_-;;

Juice- That tends to come and go. It all has to do with imports using an illegal substance for their fruit -_-;; USDA needs to get off their asses and fix this it happens all too often. However when comparing juice to soda juice is FAR better even despire the downfalls.

Pasta- You mean flour + water + milk + eggs are bad for you? :flaw:

I am well informed. I could go into more detail, but you get my point.

yes but I can cite just as many articles showing all that as bad for you. pasta is pretty much pure carbs and has nothing actually healthy in it. potatoes are pretty much pure starch and contain almost nothing at all healthy in them, crackers are pretty much pure flour. the milk thing was something my cousin showed me a long time ago and I cant remember why it was bad, but it had a bunch of reasons, something about the pasteurization process. the shape of asians has a lot more to do with the fact that they eat rice. yes it is a source of carbs, but thats all there is to rice is carbs that are turned into sugars as you digest them. yes all of these things are way better than living off mcdonalds, but doesnt mean that they are completely healthy for you either. for every study that proves a food to be healthy, another one proves it to be unhealthy. not a single thing i have said about any of these foods are things that I "know", im sitting here looking up research articles on foods that people think are healthy but actually arent, and putting the results of what I find here. most of the foods it isnt because they have anything bad in them like mcdonalds does, its just that they contain large amounts of carbs and fat, and dont contain much thats actually good for you either. Also, having a diebetic roommate for 3 years taught me a bit about foods that have a lot of carbs in them. having to rush a friend to the hospital for eating too much spaghetti makes you stop and think.

It's not what you eat but how much of it, though doesn't mean you can only cut back on junk food because you still need the vital nutrients.

I've had friends who ate salads, subway, fruits & veggies & guess what? Gained weight. They consumed more calories they were burning & of course weren't exercising as much as they should to balance out their calorie intake & whatnot.

I've started exercising last year & ate smaller portions throughout the day. I eat the necessary nutrients, but I never did cut out anything I liked. Just made it a habit to cut back. I've lost 44lbs so far & went down 3 pant sizes.

Nothing is wrong with carbs. Carbs = energy. I have no idea how you think that is a bad thing. If people eat too many carbs and exercise too little it is their fault not the carbs.

Baked potato nutritional facts- (Busted)

Crackers- Nothing wrong with flour. It doesn't harm you. If you don't exercise to burn off the energy that is your fault.

Milk- Yeah, pasteurization removes most of the benefits to drinking milk. destroys most of the nutrition. However I drink milk for calcium so it is fulfilling its purpose.

Rice-

Nothing non-processed is pure carbs. I have learned that labels do not do food justice. You have to look online if you want to see the FULL list of nutrition.

Flour -

Your friend is diabetic? Something tells me that carbs were not to blame for his diabetes. How much soda/pop does this guy drink? Sugary snacks? Ice cream? Before the diabetes.

Thankfully my parents made sure I never got to drink much pop growing up so I never got used to drinking it. I still don't drink it much and prefer everything but pop :D . I intend to eat right all my life so I NEVER have to give up eating what I like because of diabetes or some other restriction. I also had a body fat test done recently and I have 5% body fat :D

hes type 1 diabetic not type 2. he was diagnosed at 11 before I even met him. type 1 is from a non-functioning pancreas not from your diet. I was just saying it taught me about foods that have a lot of carbs from seeing things that made his sugar spike.

as for the rest i really dont care all I was trying to say is that there are a bunch of studies out that that show commonly known healthy foods to be a lot less healthy than people think, and you should try reading both sides of the story rather than insisting your ideas are carved in stone by god facts. but as for what I eat I could give 2 shits less what anyone says about it im going to eat what I think tastes the best. Ive killed my body with injuries and drugs anyways, might as well add bad diet to the list.

Oh, they are coming up with some ways to fix type 1 diabetes. I forget if they said it was in testing or if they have successfully fixed it on a bunch of mice. Yeah, carbs will spike your sugar in time. However if you are worried about sugar spikes look at high fructose corn syrup.... sugar processed so finely your body doesn't need to do anything to absorb it. Almost 100% of pop has that

So lets see those studies then, I want to see the sources of these studies you have been talking about but never referencing. I have heard nothing wrong about my *drool* sweet potatoes.

<_< Yet when you get old you will complain how you should have taken better care of your body. I hate this endless cycle. A foolish young person that doesn't care what they eat and a regretful old man that wishes he would have ate better. Tis why I am eating right so I don't have those regrets in the future.

:lmao: You have a funny way of saying things. So, just how would you rate a cockroach? Just under cheap mass slaughtered chicken pumped with growth inducing hormones? *laughs*

Well if you eat homecooked food most of the time then you really don't need to worry too much then.
That would depend on the ingredients. :shrug:Some people when cooking depend on pre-packaged products; like, Hamburger Helper (hard to believe it is still sold) and Macaroni and Cheese in a box. Bottled/canned sauces, pre-cooked and pre-sliced meats, ready to use mixed flavoring packets. Since, it is still put together at home by mom or dad, one could call it "home cooked".
