Well, if there's a new Kakashi Gaiden (Kakashi Side-story) then the only thing we need to know now is how he unlocked MS (that would be cool to see).
Note: I don't count the mask because I belive we'll see that when he dies. Also, it was on him when he was young (10 I think) in the original Gaiden.

if im not wrong, kakashi achieves his MS when he fights vs Deidara (Its the first time he uses, but he needs time to activate it... id say the feelings of naruto towards gaara made that happen? idk) and yes, its true that a new story will be after naruto series ends. In an interview to Masashi Kishimoto he said he would like to show us the story of Minato or Kakashi (im not sure which one was, but he affirmed that there would be a new story from years before naruto was born)

yes, theres going to be another short story explaining what happened to Rin and how Kakashi unlocked MS ... Kishimoto said in latest interview, but he promised this few last years already lol

No Kakashi had awoken his MS before that fight. He was saying for a while naruto would be surprised to see his new technique, then when he fought with Deidara he said he didn't have a choice but to use it. He did not develop it at that point though.
