This. There are too many anime where someone needs to be rescued and the main character goes and save them etc. And Ace is clearly stronger than Luffy, why he join the SH's? It wouldn't make sense. Yes, it sucks that he died, but its somewhat better this way, the war would have been less-memorable and have less of an impact if only WB died.
i don't think ace's death had any impact on their trainiing but thats just my opinion i guess.

well post 2yr luffy i think would be stronger than ace, plus ace said he wanted to make WB the pirate king, since WB died he could have helped Luffy become the pirate king
umm yep it was like a 2-min fight. thats just one aspect. it would have been good to see more of some1 close/important to luffy. we havnt seen much of garp of shanks for obvious reasons but ace could have been different
There was no mistake. Lika Boa said - Ace had to die. It formed the series and Luffy's character.

well death of jiraiya was different in the sense naruto hadn't felt loss before jiraiyas death. as suske once told him how is to understand loss if he didn't have anything in the first place. but luffy already lost sabo(whether if sabo is alive or not is a different case but as far as luffy knows sabo is dead)

we yes in the beginning they did say they wil hav their own ships, but later ace joined WB. also ace himself said he wanted to help WB b'come the pirate king not him..he had no such ambitions, he just wanted to find the answer to his one question

well he did hav a title of fire fist ace..and when ppl relised who he was they war scared of him so he wud have had to be amazing to hav that reputationI don´t think Ace´s character was that amazing, the reason is because we never truly saw what he could do and we only got to know of his character after he died.
I think that flashback should´ve happened sooner before ace got captured, that would give one piece pre-timeskip more things to add to the story.
It would also give space for sabo during the series and not in a flashback after ace´s death when pre-timeskip is pretty much over, i didn´t like that.
Luffy is the main character, everyone in the strawhats had their backstory covered except luffy.
He forgot his main character and he then suddently remembered to give him a backstory after the war as pre-timeskip was ending which happened when luffy was crying for ace.
Revealing their flashback sooner would give luffy and ace a reason to move on and add more dynamics to the series, who knows, maybe ace could´ve found out sabo is alive and tell luffy as he´s dying, that would be great but he died without knowing anything.
To me, Ace was always one of those characters that was never truly developed, only after he died and during the war did we see who he really was as a person, guess Oda had too much going for him to have time for ace.
I´m not too sure he was satisfied with how ace turned out but he did good.
