He isn't the best.
Pac, Nas, Biggie, Eminem, Ice cube, Rakim, Krs One, Kurupt, Vinnie Paz and some few are better than him.
I can't dispute that those guys are awesome, and basically if i was naming my favorites, all those guys would make the list. Years ago, i would have said Jedi Mind Tricks instead of just Vinnie Paz... but what the hell happened to Jus Allah? he's like a wannabe Vinnie now with his voice and his content and flow... dude did a 180 and i don't like it. it's a shame cuz he was dope

As dave said he is a great rapper but i might consider him in my top ten (really enjoyed his latest album) but definitely not the best rapper ever i think the likes of nas should be considered for gratest rapper ever
it's cool if you don't consider Tech the best. afterall, Nas is a great choice too
Pretty good listened to the first song you had up there and it wasn't bad at all. Reminds me of one of my favorites.

Peep out K-Rino: Been rappin since the 80s and it seems like he is only gettin better.

Pure talent - lyrical genius and perfect timing with his rhymes

His more popular song on youtube
my man, i'm glad you know K-Rino. unfortunately, not many people do. he's definitely a name that should be spread around

lol Identity Theft was surprisingly good. You should check out Atmosphere if you haven't done so already. I think you'd like his style, is a great song.

I don't know man, Atmosphere is a bit of an aqcuired taste. Slug definitely has a unique style, but certainly if you like solid lyric ability with some intelligence behind it and you get used to the beats, Atmosphere is good.

But if you want brilliant, check out Eyedea & Abilities! if you don't know them, Eyedea recently died RIP. his 2 LP's with DJ Abilities were dope, but man if you go on Youtube and check out his battles... the man was a genius

Oh for sure, that's why I chose that song as a means of introduction. It tells a story which is more appealing and relatable than mind ****ing you for four minutes. lol I guess Murs would have been a better choice for him, but you never know. I've heard of Eyeda & Abilities. Good stuff. My favorite battle rapper is Soul Khan though, that guy is hilarious.

oh shit i forgot about Soul Khan! i love that guy. on the other hand, i wonder how he'd do with back-and-forth on the spot battles. when he battles, usually he knows in advance who it's gonna be and lots of what's said is defintiely pre-written. now, i know that pretty much all battlers do that, but we're talking having months in advance to battle one person.
i'm not taking anything away from him cuz i agree, he's awesome and definitely one of my favorites... im just sayin

In almost every battle he rebuttals what his opponent says at least once, but I agree, I don't think he'd do very well if he had to do everything on the spot. Makes me miss the old days when Jin used to tear people apart with freestyle alone. It is what it is though, it's damn near impossible to beat someone with a freestyle if he's been writing two months prior to the battle. You either have to be really good at freestyling, or the other person has to suck at writing.

hey guys, just for kicks i wanna give u a little background on me to help shed some light on my particular taste in rap.
first off, i didn't really grow up in the "ghetto," but believe me, it was close enough. I got through high school and even went to college. i am now an English teacher, as well as a semi-poet (i have several published poems, but they're in limited college publications... hard to find unless u go to CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, CA). because of the way i grew up around rap and street shit (not to mention the weed and liqour) i am very fond of rap. The educated side of me likes the poetic aspect to hip-hop. there are far too many people who refuse to see it as an art form becuase it's so "vulgar" and the language is ebonic/ghetto and therefore "dirty..." Me, i love it. and in my opinion, Tech and Em use language to it's fullest potential as rappers, that's why they are my favorites. there are tons of MC's who fit the bill--especially guys like Nas and Kool G Rap--but Tech and Em simply suite my tastes the best

I'll answer this question instead since I'm not much of a Tech N9ne fan. I think the best rapper out there lyrically is Lupe Fiasco. You can never listen to a Lupe Fiasco song once and understand what he's really saying. Lupe's verses are metaphors inside metaphors, dipped in skill, sprinkled with lyricism and served on a platter full of meaning. Truly an amazing lyricist.

"I got that birthday word play boy it's a piece of cake. Fold the flow with seats for eight, ororo munroe make it rain not with bills, I make it change."

And that's some of his mildest shit.
Lupe is definitely amazing. I back you 100% on his lyrical genius

yessir, I'm liking you very much. Jin was indeed one of the sickest freestyle rappers out there. Lots of 'freestylers' don't really freestyle though. Half of their raps are written beforehand and they rarely respond directly to what their opponent said.

agreed, Lupe's great. Is he your favorite, or just one of them?

yeah man, like i was saying about Soul Khan--now days it's the norm to prepare for a battle. i mean it's like football games, they study their opponent, watch their videos/battles, get a feel for their style... it's crazy. It makes for good battles, but it somehow feels like something is missing

U ,listen to welcome to strange land
2011 album
to date i think am i a psycho
and strange music box are my favourite
Both are great, and the addition of Brotha Lynch to Strange music was awesome. I love the new stuff, and i love that he dropped All 6's and 7's and Strangeland in the same year. but for people who either don't know him or aren't feelin him nowdays, i'd say Breathe, Trapped in a Psycho's Body, I'm a Playa, Now It's On, The Industry is Punks, Celsius, and the rare Sometimes are good ones to check out. Also, he did a song with Potluck called What We Are--the song was dope but there's a remix u can find on youtube where they put Tech's verse to the "Party Like a Rockstar" beat. if you haven't heard that one CHECK IT OUT

this should be a good link... he spit's in the beginning, but at like :40 it restarts the verse. shit's bangin though, check it out if u haven't already

hmm... actually, u should read the rest of my posts on this thread. because in fact, i agree with you. i have every OutKast album plus Big Boi's, and well Hi Teck is a producer not a rapper but i got Hi Teck and Talib Kweli albums (Kweli is dope), i love Mos Def except he has a couple weird albums but Black on Both Sides and Black Star are CLASSIC, i got all Devin LP's, and i love Twista and Common. but u forgot Pun bro. My only point is that i personally like Tech N9ne the best, but i love rap in general--underground though. (and don't forget Em...)

Lol, bro, Tech N9ne is only 1 person! besides that, i f'n LOVE Nujabes! u know he died though right? such a shame, the man was a beast on the track. was the first time u heard of him when you saw Samurai Champloo? (And i already got So Tired). but tell me, what's your "type" of rap? cuz it sounds like you like music to get high to. I mean, that all Devin's about, and Hi-Tek makes beats that are mellow (for the most part).
