As for previous training well i have mastered water wind and gen i specialise in water and am growing fond of gen i also have A rank lightning.
Ok on to earth
Earth release or doton is one of the five basic elements and most commonly seen in use by iwagakure members it is quite a flexible element and is used for both offensive and defensive techniques, Commonly associated with the snake handseal and slamming hands on to the earth it is sometimes a little obvious when an opponent uses doton though the wide variety of the techniques more then make up for it, The variety i speak of are the various abilitys of a doton user these include the hardening and softening of the earth around then as well as high level users changing the very terrain around them entirely.
While it is a very powerful element it is weak against lightning mainly due to the various minerals and ores in the earth that makes lightning very conductive, With that being said it is very good against water due to a solid beating a liquid in most instances, Though you should always be wary because enough water will render your earth techniques weaker and turn them in to mud, Earth is a component of a few various KG and special releases such as Lava Wood Explosion just to name a few it is also a component of the dust release Kekkai Tota most notably used by the current tsuchikage and his predessecor Muu.
So in summary i believe earth to be the most flexible element ironically, Mainly due to its ability to transport hide transform defend and attack with a large variety of techniques.

As i lay there in the earth rather annoyed i begin focusing my chakra and meditating i try to feel the currents of the earth and manipulate the flow of the chakra underground focusing on the density of the earth and how i could manipulate it as the ground seems to be alive constantly shifting and moving with the flow of insects and the footsteps of people right down to the plants roots forcing there way through the earth and in to the sun
Wait thats it i think to myself as i begin focusing my chakra around me softening the earth and making it lighter as i sneakily climb out and see you napping away by the side of the pit

I felt the earth passing around me i felt a part of it like it was a living breathing thing
The echoes of footsteps long since past
The silent calm earth and i felt the duality of it the hidden rage ready to rise up at a moments notice and crush my foes i felt my chakra flow in to the earth and the earth repay me in kind i feel i have bonded with the earth itself

Now try to keep that feeling in mind whilst you try to get your earth chakra into your hand to mould the mud into a sphere like form. Try it a couple of times to make the sphere more round

Ahh like forming a rasengan i wonder lets try
*I begin forcing my chakra in to my right hand as i hold the mud trying to infuse my chakra in a calming manner as i did while trapped in the hole i focus on manipulating the mud in my hand forming it into a sphere, My first attempt results in a dome of earth so i crush it again and begin reforming it paying extra attention to the shape focusing on a sphere but it turns in to a rugby ball shape, Damn fine once more.. I begin pushing more chakra down in to my hand and manipulating the mud focusing hard on shape manipulation while i imbue more chakra allowing me to totally manipulate the shape forming a perfect sphere of mud in my hand*

I begin focusing my earth chakra to run through out my entire body, As i do this i extend it below my feet making the ground under me turn incredibly soft and hollow allowing me to drop in to a hole
Then by focusing my doton chakra in to my hands i scurry through the earth tearing the mud to bits and softening it digging a tunnel in a very short space of time stopping under your feet i soften the ground above me again reaching my hands through grabbing your ankles and burying you up to your neck as i hop out of the ground at the same time
