The arc is getting better. They are in Sky land atm. I liked the part where the WG called the Shichibukai together and Mihawk showed up. Flamingo looks wierd. Bartholemew looks like a zombie O.O

Ruffy is fighting with alot of emotions and he cares for his friends, and that was what made him stronger, but this phenomen isn't just in One Piece, also in Naruto, basically in every fighting manga/anime.
About the Skypia arc, it is really cool and the beginning of the arc is especially important since he saw the first time the upcoming villian Blackbeard.

Crocodile was seemingly one of the weaker shichibukai anyway. He had a 100 million beli bounty. Whereas Moria (who was beaten later in the series was worth 320 million beli) was a lot stronger. Then you have Mihawk with a bounty of 600 million.
Crocodile was based around a weaker area of the grand line, Alabasta didn't need a 600 million beli bounty to intimidate other pirates.
